I would rather not accidentally cut my own arm off with a lightsaber, I do not have the force therefore a lightsaber is a bad idea. Even if I have a lightsaber someone with a gun can just shoot me, a lightsaber does not give its wielder the ability to auto block bullets. It takes force users years of training to use a lightsaber let alone me a normal person with zero combat training.
