I am working on a project and I want to know how does it function I look it up on different media but every media uses it differently than other, so I wanted to Know what is the proper way Alchemy is used or what is the one that makes the most sense
There's no proper way. It's up to interpretation. The few hard rules most fiction seems to follow is that nothing can be created or destroyed, everything comes at a cost, and the more complex tasks are more costly.
I would personally look to Fullmetal Alchemist. That's a biased opinion because it's a good show, but I think Fullmetal Alchemist has the most "realistic" depiction of alchemy
