What's the best backstory for the protagonist?
In both cases, the protagonist's big milestone is inside a church, when a mysterious man passes a luminous object from inside his chest to the protagonist's chest. It is at this moment that his Awen and Od powers awaken. and then this mysterious man disappeared. At that time the protagonist was only 10 years old.
Awen: in short, it's like a combination of JoJo's Stands and Personas from Persona/Shin Megami Tensei.
Od/Odic Force: it is a type of vital force similar to the generic ones in anime, but more linked to the psychic.
Normal: after his powers are awakened for the first time, the protagonist is confused, but then remembers a set of books that his great-grandfather left him. Books were records of an ancestor. It had long been believed that they were drafts for a book he was trying to write, but the protagonist now understood that they were diaries and manuals teaching how to use such powers.
Apprentice: it was shortly after awakening his powers, he always kept his supernatural side hidden. The problem now was that his family had fragmented from within, even his parents had separated. To the protagonist's despair, he stayed with his mother. In secret she committed physical (beating the boy) and psychological abuse against him. At thirteen he was constantly running away from home, to distance himself from his family's madness and his mother's abuse. Until one day, during one of these escapes, he met a beautiful young and noble boy, this boy had saved a family from a gang attack. What caught the protagonist's attention most is that he had the same type of power as him. He asked that man to teach him how to control his powers too. At first, that boy was a little afraid about it, but he decided to test the protagonist and then adopted him as his disciples.
