The perfect woman said succinctly, a hand on her chin as she stared at the woman across from her, Kaede.

"In all of my lives, my infinite experiences, not once have I received an answer as to who she is. Or what she is."

The perfect woman, Akemi, shook her head towards Kaede.

"It's best that you don't know, that nobody knows. There are reasons as to why I haven't answered your questions, most of all being that the weight of such knowledge is something even I struggle with holding."

Kaede frowns, not out of annoyance, but more simple curiosity. That's the closest the woman across from her has shown to some sort of imperfection, what could the Queen be to create such a response?

And why was it that no matter what happened in her many lives, many alternatives of living, Charlemagne remained in a place where she knew so little.

Questions were something Kaede rarely had, so to have this many was exhilarating, but also frightening. Whatever Charlemagne was, perhaps it was best not to know.

I’m a failure. I failed to protect Alice. But I at least managed to get her and myself back to my apartment. Despite her attempts to ease my self-hatred, nothing calmed me down. I managed to convince her to stay with me until I could get her back to stability, so that’s a good start..

And me? Well..I tried to get rid of myself, to put it lightly. And hurt myself again and again. It didn’t work despite how weak I was after the Crimson Ressurection Spell, which I honestly found surprising. Every attempt would be met with a resentment towards the idea of finally dying. But then again, Alice had nobody else to keep her company. Sure, Sera was still around, but I didn’t wanna see what could become my Stepdaughter hate me for my failure.

So here I am. Taking care of a woman I love and care for just like everyone else I both carnally and romantically tangle myself with. That night.

That night changed everything.

That unnamed being let me go that night without fault. I wonder if they didn't harm me because of their words of what the queen may be. Would I have suffered a different fate otherwise? Would the queen have sought retribution for my death that night? Would she have been furious? Would she have been sad? Would she have felt anything? Such questions plague me as I stand here now in my house of old.

The lover I've known and served for 650 years of my 843 year old life is my reason for existing. Is she really all that I claim her to be to me if all it took to shake the foundation of a longtime relationship at the foundation were a few words from what I suspect to be an eldritch being or being with similar power thereof? I suppose so. A part of me is ashamed at the fact that I'm even questioning her and who/what she is. My own questions of that night haunt me as well. Why does she not take over the world considering how powerful she is?

Mother, you were a powerful archangel and you loved me. That much I know. You came to me in my dream that night and told me of a tome you buried in my birthplace. I've found it and locked it away. I've cut the telepathic connection with the queen, though I'm sure she could find me if she wanted. I'm not sure why she hasn't come for me given the amount of time I've been away. Random thought, but I wonder if you and dad would be happy if you saw my life now? I've went from being the second most powerful being/mage in the UK to a random resident of Japan. Maybe this is where I'm meant to be. I'm writing this to you in your old journal, you know. I hope you're smiling down on me. I hope that I'll get to write to you soon.

Alex was working away in a dark workshop, lit up only by the flashlight she held in her mouth and the sparks flying as she finished up a gauntlet, she mumbled "Since Charlie was telling me I ought to be stronger, figure this might work, my Excalibur..", she then attached this gauntlet to a larger suit of 'armour', a mechanical one which was about the size of Alex's body, perhaps a bit larger "My suit of armour, what shall I name it, I wonder..", a grin came across her face as she sat back and fell asleep, obviously exhausted.
