It's not that it's underrated, it's that it's a very common ability in media to the point that if you ask someone, anyone at all to name a superpower, among the most common answers is telekinesis. It's not underrated, it's just common. And what is common isn't seen as anything interesting. Hence people don't tend to look at it very much.
