Ok, so I liked the idea of this and wanted to respond to it... but then got stuck for a week debating about the powers with myself and ending up on long tangents. This sort of thing happens a lot, and I often end up just not responding to the original post because I spend far, far too long thinking about it 😅. In this case, it does kind of feel like it's been too long, but I simultaneously feel like I've spent too long thinking about it not to respond, so I'm just going to do it anyway.
In any case, one thing I've noted before is that 'non-absolute' can still be vastly powerful and capable of pretty much anything any human could ever comprehend and more. I tend to approach these sorts of posts under the lens of 'what would I actually do?', which generally means I go for what is least likely to make me wish I had taken other powers later down the line - i.e., a combination of powers that give me the greatest scope and range/potency of capabilities, as well as passive protections against factors such as death, mind control, fate, etc. These are naturally very different from what I would say would make a narratively interesting adventure, since such powers would tend to invalidate most, if not all, threats and challenges.
What are your two SSS Mythic abilities?
With the criteria provided, my go-to would probably be Selective Omnipotence over Causality, since it allows for any effect to be produced from any cause or just without a rational cause, as well as making me immune to any unwanted effects, as well as Self-Retention, just as a precaution. However, this feels a bit too much to me like taking a power on a technicality; after all, even though Selective Omnipotence is neither an absolute or an omnipotence derivative (somehow), the majority of its variations are both. So while I would certainly take that if I could, if not (and also ignoring plain Nigh-Omnipotence), then...
Metaphysics Manipulation due to the scope afforded by 'metaphysics' as a philosophical inquiry, causing the power to encompass the manipulation of things like logic, origins, existence, reality, truth, concepts, boundaries, etc. Basically all the terms we use to discuss powers that go beyond affecting just the physical are metaphysical simply by nature. Also, metaphysics is itself a fascinating field.
Selective Transcendence - I was originally debating between various powers to determine which would be the best for providing an inherent passive protection against factors such as fate, death, mind control/influence, etc, since I wanted something that would protect me even between the period of gaining the powers and using them to give myself protections against various things. Then I realised that there would probably be a sort of 'grace period' anyway, since whatever being is summoning me into this world wouldn't put me in a situation where I would immediately be killed/mind controlled, and Metaphysics Manipulation allows for manipulating fate anyway. I chose Selective Transcendence mainly because I think it would be reasonable for a power dedicated to the manipulation of one's own limits/transcendence/etc to be easier to use to that effect than a more overarching power like Metaphysics Manipulation. It would also cover for any unforseen limits to Metaphysics Manipulation.
Of course, these are very different from the powers I would go for if I was trying to create a narratively interesting adventure, in which case they would probably be more to the effect of Supernatural Potential and Diverse Interface, really leaning into the 'starts out (relatively) weak, but can develop rapidly and become very powerful' idea, since Diverse Interface can potentially interact with anything, but it's up to the user to actually learn how to take advantage of that interaction. This actually allows for there to be challenges, struggle against them, and development via overcoming those challenges.
Are you afraid of this adventure?
Preferred powers: maybe initially, but once I start experimenting with my powers, not really. As I said before, these kinds of powers tend to invalidate most challenges and threats.
Narratively interesting powers: yes. Less so as I become more powerful and learn how to wield Diverse Interface better (especially once I start interacting with things like life/death, space-time, causality, etc), but given the unrealised nature of my full power, I would always be worried about coming across something more powerful than myself and dying because I underestimated it or just got caught off-guard.
What will you do first?
Preferred powers: use Selective Transcendence to adjust my own limitations and make myself immune to death, fate, undesirable mental influences, etc. Then learn as much as I can about this world, its history, what it needs saving from, and so on, and determine the best course of action to save it.
Narratively interesting powers: first would be learning basic survival and combat skills. This should go relatively quickly due to Supernatural Potential. Then I can focus on a mix of learning about the world, learning more advanced skills, as well as learning and practicing how to use Diverse Interface, starting with local manipulation of physical phenomena like wind, fire, and so on, then later on extending to physics-based things like physical space-time, and eventually extending to metaphysical phenomena like definitions, causality, metaphysical space-time, etc. I would try to balance my development of conventional skills and levels with my development of Diverse Interface so that no area ends up lacking.
