@AzQth Hey, responding at almost the same time as me, what perfect time is this? HAHAHAHAHAHA
@AzQth I view Scientiapotence as the user seeing everything as a form of science that they can control however they please. Think of the user as Dr. Manhattan but actually omnipotent. He saw magic as discarded scraps of creation or something along those lines, thus allowing him to manhandle magic users.
I think, because I do struggle to imagine Scientiapotence due to how undefined science is at that level, as long as we're taking the powers at an equal level, I would take Subjective Reality. While I would likely never fully remove the boundary between fantasy and reality, I could still bring literally any fantasy perfectly into reality while maintaining that boundary on the whole.
@Animus infinitus That is an excellent quote! Also, I agree with your argument.
@AzQth That's fair!
@Animus infinitus Haha, yeah, whoops! Still though, that's exactly it! If magic existed in our world, scientists would absolutely study it to model how it works and how it's formed at a foundational level, just like is done with everything else in our world.
@Necropolis00 My main issue with the idea of 'perceives everything as a form of science that they can control' is that, it would seem to make the power functionally the same as plain Omnipotence. On the other hand, Arcanepotence can do anything, sure, but magic is often portrayed as having certain unique qualities (e.g., the use of glyphs or magic circles, magical energy, etc) that would allow the power to be distinguished from plain Omnipotence. Science doesn't really have that, because science is a study of the world, not a force or anything like that. So it seems to me like a user of Scientiapotence would simply be able to instantly understand the complexities and fundamental basis of anything/everything and thus control it. But from an outside standpoint, how would that appear any different from Omnipotence?
@AzQth I mean, there is a reason why Scientiapotence seems to be the most portrayed version of Omnipotence in fiction. To us, there is nothing that distinguishes Scientiapotence from plain Omnipotence. There'd be a distinction to an Omniscient Being or one who is actively Omnipotent. Think of the Scientiapotence user as the being who thinks they're genuinely omnipotent in your previous analogy.
@AzQth @Necropolis00 In fact, a user of Scientiapotence for ordinary people, or rather, for inferior beings, would seem like simple pure omnipotence, because externally there would be nothing that would differentiate them from the purest omnipotence, but for equivalent beings, it would be easy for them to distinguish which is which.
But, from a more external and realistic view, Scientiapotence users would be the closest to simple omnipotence, because they would be beings who have reached such a level by studying the world, so they would be able to understand and comprehend the other types of omnipotence that are based on energy, aka, Arcanepotence, simply energy magical, but still energy, Almighty Mind, same thing as magic, but for psychic and mental powers in general, Absolute Spirituality, same thing as the previous two, but with spiritual energy. But in terms of fiction, it usually ends up not being that way.
In fact, in fiction, they would be more easily portrayed as a race that has advanced technology, that they in themselves are not powerful, but that the technology they use is powerful, so they would do everything based on that technology, but they would still be physical 3D beings, with mortal and tangible bodies, suffering from diseases and the like, with an AI that governs and commands everything, and obeys them completely without question, and if they were to go into combat, they would go with some indestructible nanotechnology armor with power capable of annihilating galaxies or things like that, without even mentioning technology greater than nanotechnology, such as femtotechnology, it would be the most basic and easy thing to do without having to really think about every detail of what would actually be a civilization of such a level, so much so that I've already said here in this Fandom a few times, that Doctor Manhattan and the Downstreamers are the ones that are the most come close to this, they are the best true example of a user of this power.
And regarding the easy way I spoke of creating a civilization of such a level, you could say that they are more users of Absolute Technology Manipulation than actual users of Scientiapotence.
@Animus infinitus Excellent point!
What do you think?
