Magic often requires study, (often, not all the time lol)

Psionics require that i use my 2 braincells, however, i think it's less structured, and less precise,

People are thinking of random shit 24/7 and aren't always in control of their emotions and thoughts.

I love both but if I’m being honest the cost of magic is always higher than psionics so I choose psionics fs

Psionics is too reliant on your head though.

Imagine being a big shot and crushing some random mob with telekinesis, then sneezing because your nose itch and losing control of your powers, releasing him. Awkward.

Basic magic is too vague, but psionics is to be expected, and ironically, I wouldn't want it.

I've been thinking about this topic for quite some time, ever since I got interested in Psionics via Alpha Esper. I'd do simulations in my head of a VS Battle between a basic Psionic User Vs a Magic User.

I find that a Basic Magic User has the edge. Since the Basic Magic can use magic to hide from the Psionic User. But on the other hand, a Basic Magic User has ways of finding the Basic Psionic User and then place a curse on them. Then just wait for them to die.

Thought this scenario is that they both have Basic Understand and Mastery of their Powers, but if they have to learn from the start it could go either way.

1) Assuming a Basic Magic user is actually capable of such a spell, hiding his presence and mana completely while casting curses from a distance? Big assumptions here, I can counter that the Psionic can create an Anti Magic barrier by definition then.

2) A Psionic could have visions of the future, concentrate on thoughts, read the flow of emotions/intentions, a sense of danger, an instinctive reflection, who knows? No one knows.

@IMACOP5775 Does magic also depend on the head? Can't remember a straight spell and screw everything up, sneeze in a concentration ritual and lose all focus, explode due to lack of mana control (if it relies on mana as energy, of course).

There isn't a disadvantage that Psionics has linked to the head,that Magic doesn't have either.

I will always defend my argument, there is nothing in Magic that Psionics cannot do as well.

@Jikkai Magic have many types. Some need concentration, others don't. Some your mind will help enhance the magic. But the standard is once the spell is cast, it's done. Any concentration is really just the mage providing mana to sustain the magic or something, and not the mind concentrating on it. At least, that's the standard in most media. Rituals are different because... I mean, they're called rituals for a reason.

Whereas Psionics is 100% you have to keep it in your mind. ;p

And yes, they're similar and can do the same things. Just that one is magic, the other is Psionics. I'd say think of it like this. Magic's weakness is the casting of the spell (the before) and have no trouble after it's cast, while Psionics weakness is the maintaining of the effect (the after) but they can 'cast' it by just thinking instantly.

Of course, if we're talking about masters of equal level, than they'll honestly be no different from one another since they both can do the same thing and will have counter measures for their weaknesses.
