Why do y'all want superpowers, both in real life and roleplay? For me, I just want to be myself, you know? Help my family, self, friends, learn and do the things I want, et cetera. Just have fun. As for roleplay, I want to unleash my creativity without any constraints! Have my self-insert character, Zander, be able to grab the rings of Saturn and toss them like a Frisbee! Juggle universes just for the hell of it! Crush a star into a black hole, tear open the fabric of space-time, teleport anywhere, communicate telepathically with anyone, traverse the multiverse, grant his own and other people's wishes, die and resurrect whenever he wants (even if he's erased from existence), shapeshift into anything he wants, make a castle work on Toon Physics, create his own pocket dimension, manifest things from his imagination, and so much more!
I wanted to have powers for several reasons, one of which was to get rid of problems more easily.
Honestly everyone hit it on the head! I don’t wanna be Mr negative but man life is boring & just Lame! I at no point wanted to do this but here I am forced to live a life bound by fate & so many situations you can’t control. People suffer everyday & there is 0 you can do about it, which is so lame. With Powers that’s all over. The shackles placed on us by fate are now removed.
The more powerful the more possibilities are open, meaning the more fun you can have!
I hate when people say power corrupts. Valid it does but so does love, kids, relationships, life, etc. The issue is as long as we have fleshly weak bodies & bound by sin ANYTHING can corrupt us but with powers no more sin & thus no more corruption!
Power does not corrupt (of course unless it is omnimalevolence or a dark heart) but if the user is evil the problem is the user and not the power, the power opens possibilities but it is the user who makes their choices, the person "becomes evil" because they see that nothing can stop them and they demonstrate their true being, if the user of the power is good or evil the problem is the user and not the power.
Powers open up possibilities for us to solve our problems, for example: my father is sick and I really want a power to cure him, but without powers this is completely out of my control and I can only watch him being sick without being able to do anything.

For me the reasons why I want powers is to help my life, so I can be useful and have an adventure. I have a disability and even though I can still do a lot of things along with walking and talking I still want powers to help me with it, like having more strength, making my voice higher so people can hear me when I talk and being smart. I have been wanting to be like this anime character who can do a lot of things and because of that I felt useless. I want to be able to heal people, protect people by making barriers, change the weather and teleport to anywhere I want because I can't drive. I also want to have my own magical world like the ones I see in shows I like. I would like to go inside a computer, shrink (but not to the size like in Honey I Shrunk The Kids), fly, be able to transform into a magical girl like in Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure, time travel and change my age because I have a hard time being an adult. I also have depression and deal with stress so I want powers to help me with those things as well. I also want to have a pure heart like some of my favorite characters and be a mermaid as well.

@SailorMadoka29 You remind me of my wife. Anyways, I'm sorry that you have a disability and are dealing with adulthood, depression, and stress. I can sympathize. Depression has kicked my ass many times, I'll admit. I believe in you! Take care of yourself! 😊
Why want power at all ? Because power is simply the key to everything : from solving your life's problems to realizing your dreams to creating a happier world for everyone, power is the most crucial factor that determines whether or not any of it is possible, and how easily you can achieve them. Despite all the cultural and fictional sour grapes we are perpetually fed on this regard, the sheer reality of it remains unshakable.
Personally, I would do all of the above in the same order : ensure complete long-term safety for myself and my loved ones, then create a high-functioning system/society and an independent world to host them that will be the ever-reliable fundation of our everlasting lives, then explore, enjoy and learn from any reality I can access, helping out along the way like a heroic adventurer and inviting my favorites to eventually join the world I created, and use everything I gain during my travels to endlessly improve it.
Basically, I would do exactly what my main character sheet is about ^ ^
