Over 13 years ago, a German Mad Scientist named Dr. Gunther Hensin—now nicknamed Dr. Animal—found an injury cat outside his laboratory. Taking the feline and healing it, he then started to think; what would happen if we didn’t turn us Humans into animals..but the opposite? So, he mutated the cat—who was eventually named Azure after its blue-tinted fur—into an Anthropomorphic Feline, which is now referred to as a Beastwere.
Beastweres don’t have the ability to turn into Humans, but they do act like Humans (Walk, talk, ect). This is because a genetic mutation causes the inability to transform into a Human due to the DNA of a Beastwere being considered as a Human.
Over the years, Beastweres have developed Powers, though the Powers themselves are usually on the lower scale. The following is a Power Level chart:
Level 9: Powerless/No need for Scaling
Level 8: Peak Human Abilities/House Level
Level 7: Enhanced 1 Abilities/Town Level
Level 6: Enhanced 2 Abilities/City Level
Level 5: Enhanced 3 Abilities/Multi-City Level
Level 4: Supernatural 1 Abilities/State Level
Level 3: Supernatural 2 Abilities/Multi-State Level
Level 2: Supernatural 3 Abilities/Territory Level
Level 1: Nigh-Absolute Level/Continet Level
Level 0: Absolute Level/World Level
It’s important to note that all Beastweres—no matter their Power Level, type or anything else—are extremely weak to Titanium, Lead and/or Bronze, similar to how Werebeasts are extremely weak to Sliver and/or Gold. One can resist the pain due to their Power Level, but large amounts of it will still be deadly.
When it comes to the Powers themselves, certain things are rarer than others. For example, controlling an Element or having Telekinetic Abilities are common, but Necromancy, Animancy and/or Reality Changing are extremely rare to have and is usually looked down upon, especially when you can manipulate Reality.
Because Beastweres are now common in modern society, organizations have been created to keep things in order. The largest—and most important—organization is the Animal Martial Combat District, or the AMCD for short.
The AMCD specializes in turning Beastweres into “Super-Beasts” to deal with threats by conducting Trials to see where they lie in the Ranks. The Ranks are listed as the following:
Rank E: Lowest Rank/Assistant
Rank C: Second Lowest Rank/Soldier
Rank B: Third Lowest Rank/Spy
Rank A: Middle Rank/Assassin
Rank S: Third Highest Rank/Commander
Rank X: Second Highest Rank/General
Rank Z: Highest Rank/Admiral
The higher the rank, the harder it is to gain and the higher the paycheck one gets. E-Ranked Beastweres are paid $700 an hour and $1,000 per month, while Z-Ranked Beastweres are paid $200,000 an hour and $900,000 per month.
The Trials—named the Super-Beast Trial Tests, or S-BTT—are filled with tests. The tests include:
•Desensitization to Violence and/or Viscera
•Combat Strategies
•Patience in pressuring situations/scenarios
•Assertion of Order
•Overall Strength, Speed, Stamina and Flexibility
•Dealing with Enemies/Rivals of almost any Power Levels
•Brutality
•Physical Pain Tolerance
If one exceeds in all tests, they’re automatically placed in the Z rank. However, the tests are designed to be nearly impossible for one to reach that level or the X and S levels. Most members are more likely to reach Ranks A-C than anything else.
There’s also Divisions in the AMCD. The Divisions are areas based on one’s Beastwere’s style of combat:
Pound Division (Uses Brutality/Hand-To-Hand)
Ammo Division (Uses Ammo/Guns)
Blade Division (Uses Bladed Weapons)
Detonate Division (Uses Explosives)
Powered Division (Uses Powers/Abilities)
These Divisions each have their own Weapon Rooms, Break Rooms and Training Rooms. All Division Members are required to corporate with each other and not fight each other. As for the ranks, each Division has 1 Admiral/Z-Ranked Member, 2 Generals/X-Ranked Members and 2 Commanders/S-Ranked Members.
Now that we’ve looked at the AMCD and Beastweres in general, it’s time to look at their main enemy; Humans. Though Humans are usually Powerless or on the Powers Levels of 7-4, most still pose a threat to Beastweres. And although some Humand are relatively neutral to Beastweres, most of the Human Population—possibly around 60%—is against Dr. Animal and/or Beastweres in general.
With the overall population of Beastweres becoming into the 100,000s, a new organization has came into play; the Beast Extermination And Weakening Association, or the BEAWA for short. The BEAWA is an Human-only organization meant to capture, weaken and exterminate/kill Beastweres. It’s Technology is highly advanced; from self-reloading Machine Guns to Pure Titanium Bullets and everything in between. It lacks a ranking as its founder and CEO—Hera Upshaw—believes that a ranking system is “unnecessary, as all Humans should work for one goal; to slay the Beasts”.
Hera is rarely seen by anyone besides her allies and family, and is much less spoken of by her organization. This is to protect her privacy from Beastwere Assassins and prevent any danger to her and her 2 young children; Elizabeth and James Upshaw.
The BEAWA isn’t the only organization that’s known to go against the AMCD’s beliefs; The Howl Agency is known as the most secretive organization in the history of the world, as nobody but its own members know about its motives, goals and such. The only thing known is that it’s famous for illegal trading/smuggling, sudden assassinations and highly advanced serums. To this day, nobody knows the identity of the leader. Not even the members know of who they are.
Other things to know/General Info:
Humans do exist, but they either are Powerless or have very little Powers at Levels 7-4.
Wildlife Animals are now being mutated, however they’re rarer to see because..well, it’s a wild animal.
The most common Beastweres are Domesticated Felines and Canines.
The AMCD is located in Toronto, Canada, where most of the Beastwere population is.
The BEAWA is mainly located in London, England, though it has small organization buildings all around the world, including Ottawa, Sydney, Berlin and Paris.
The Howl Agency’s location is unknown, but it’s hinted that they live across the entire world.
Because of the name “Howl” tends to hint towards it, Non-Domesticated Canine Beastwere—especially Wolfweres—are usually more feared by other Beastweres for their possible involvement with The Howl Agency.
