So I made this-
So I was thinking, if comics had basically decided to do what the og X-Men show (in concept) & the Invincible show does/did & just animated their stories, would they run neck in neck with animes today? Because at the end of the day I 100% believe that anime only beats comics in popularity because there is a heck of a lot more shows based off of manga & more people will see shows more than books.
So, what stories should get adult animations, animations that stick to the content, unfiltered, & have adult themes (just because it has graphic violence & sex doesn't make it adult animation, 1 it can still be a kids show just with graphic violence & sex)? With a little tweaking to some of the designs to fit modern day values, here's a list:
Spawn-
His story has little to no retcons, the protagonist is Black, & in this sea of demonic heroes, he shows through with his og & original twist to the whole thing. Plus, his power feats would get nerds of all kinds interested.
Radiant Black-
While I haven't personally read this myself, I trust Comic Drake in reviews & he has unconditional love for this series. I saw a couple of facts fromTop 10 Nerd that discussed the story & characters, & by those facts this puts a new spin too superheroes. With the diverse cast as well, this could be a great show.
MileStone-
This whole universe is barley used as a whole in games, comics, shows, & merch. It's criminal really. For those who don't know, this is an indie comic company made in the 90s. It brought originality to the super-hero comics & made it more diverse. Not just for black people, but for members of the lgbtqi community as well. They also were the 1st company to make a solo series for a Korean character. They're also the home for some of of the most powerful characters in fiction. Static's new comic already is like a manga now & he's become more of Shonen Protagonist than he already was.
Wildstorm-
Another universe that puts a unique twist to sci-fi as a whole. It's unforgettable characters were a marvel & in my opinion, they should've stayed separate from the main dc universe (which nerfed their power levels & made them less original).
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers-
By what I heard of this series, this is very deep & well written, sharing the same writer for Radiant Black. With that said + the nostalgia of the Power Rangers + the epic power levels of this series = a great adult animation (like Ne Zha on Netflix)
More Complex Transitions
These are comics that are more complex to translate to tv shows because of different writers, retcons, etc. But finding the basic concepts, events, & powers should be enough to make a great story.
Teen Titans-
Sticking with the common storyline ignoring the unliked retcons, this can be a great story showing the true story of the Teen Titans. This is already a greatly received teen-super hero team before Bnha so showing the more deeper & darker story can line up for a great story.
X-Men-
This can make up for a great story because who doesn't like the X-Men? Not only does it have a lot diverse characters (there's always room for many more btw) but the story often blends into the magical genres, space genres, & more. With the X-Force stories too? Showing there are more X-Men who have no troubles slaughtering hordes of humans, that will make for great story plots. Not only that, but it will be a time for more lesser known characters to shine.
