Super Eating

Outside of the Border. Life would continue as normal although be it with heavy unease on their shoulder due to the only thing that separated the rest of the world from becoming infected was a mere wall and ocean. However, the rest of humanity would never know about the serum that gave you powers and remain ignorant to its blessing and curse.

But now what about the Infection Zone? What happened to all the people there? What became of them? Well quite frankly. No body knows and no body ever planned on knowing nor did they think they would ever enter the Infection Zone.

In secret, the government would organize a small group of the best of the best from their military before opening the Gateway for the first time. However. This small group would be warned that no body knew what was on the other side and be told that they could possibly encounter an Infected.

Your team would strode pass the massive gates, but one of you would look back to watch the gates slowly, but loudly close behind you before one of the other members would call your name to which you would turn your head and briefly glance back at the gate just in time to see it close. Locking you all in for who knows how long, but you knew whatever was alive now knew they had visitors so you would silently pray that whatever you encountered was friendly before catching up with your team.

Crimes rates have sky rocketed off the charts and the police force would be utterly overwhelmed by the crime and eventually the US was overran by criminals and crime lords due to poor leadership, but eventually the government itself would take matters to their own hands and create something that could've possibly help them with gaining control over their country again, but this creation would be deemed to much of a danger to humanity and thus it would be put aside and something else would be created in its place and that would be a serum like no other.

Those who were injected with this special serum would not only become more stronger then a normal human physically and they would develop superpowers that would later be known as "Traits". Some developed multiple "Traits", while others only developed one, but some wouldn't gain any of the benefits from this serum and would remain normal.

That would be a problem. Most adults wouldn't develop any of these benefits, so the government turned their attentions towards the teens and would soon find out that teens had a more better chance of developing these benefits. The reasoning and belief why this is is because the body of a young person is still developing. Of course, that was just all a lie. A cover up to hide the cruel secret.

Two decades later. The new generations of heroes would begin to raise and continue on the legacy of their parents, but then something very horrible happened. The truth would be spilled out to the public by a group of senior students and there would be an outcry for such injustice and how the very hero society they thought they could trust was no more better then the criminals they swore to destroy.

The age of heroes would come to a shattering fall soon after. As there was an overwhelming numbers of civilians rioting against them, but it wouldn't stop there. All the families who were told that their child had died on a mission would want to get vengeance for themselves and their lost child. So they gathered and made a plan. A plan in which they would attack one of the only remaining building that the heroes were allowed to keep to themselves. However, this building would be the very same building that contained the other creation.

This attack would unleash the Hunger. A virus that was created to at first be released in crime filled cities, but found to be inhumane and far to contagious.

Additionally, the Hunger would turn whoever got infected into crazed beast. For as the Hunger, as the name implies, makes the person constantly in a state of hunger that'll quickly drive them insane, but it also makes any infected food highly dangerous to eat even in tiny portions.

In days, the Hunger would've spread throughout the country of the US and every food that existed there would become nothing more then poison. Everyone would begin to starve but the other countries would create a border around the US to prevent anyone from leaving. Fearing that this virus could become global.

A few years would pass and many residence there were begin to be driven insane from the Hunger and begin to cannibalize one another and those who didn't would either be killed and eaten or rip themselves apart and eat themselves, but the Hunger would become too great and all those who were infected would finally accept that the only way to survive was to kill and cannibalize any human weaker then themselves.

Of course, then there's the powered and normal humans. The none-powered humans have to constantly live in fear that a powered human might murder them for food, but the same could be said for the powered humans. As they also live in fear that a powered human stronger then them will also kill them for food.

In this world. Only the strongest can surely survive such a starved world. After all. In this world. It's either eat or be eaten by yourself or by someone else.
