In a series I have been working on, the group of multispecies called the druids have an animal companion that is connected to their life-force. The main character is the first druid to be partner up with a dragon companion.
Now, here is the problem. Should I make the dragon species an intelligent species or just give the main character dragon the intelligence from his partner? There are many cons and pros that I just want to hear other opinions.
