I believe your tounge sticks to the pole because a cold surface (the pole) is being touched by a much warmer substance (your tongue).
Your tounge can’t supply as much heat as the frozen pole absorbs, your saliva freezes, and your’re now stuck to the pole. It’s not a temperature manipulation thing per say.
The only way you could emulate that (and I doubt you reasonably could, but fiction is meant to be stretched) would be by dowsing the person you were attacking in water. Then again, your tongue is made of many porses. That also more or less plays role.
With temperature manipulation you can manipulate the pole temperature to whatever you want, FREEZE ALL THE ENEMY’s tongues.
Tongues can also get stuck to ice. It seems more like a tongue thing. Exposure to long temperatures can cause other problems....
