I feel like people missed the "No Omnipotence" rule.
One of the characters, the answer is essentially yes, for another, 3-A at peak, for another, currently 9-B, and that's all I have for concrete characters.
"I'd be inclined to agree, but if that were the case, then we wouldn't need to fight them, and we could just let them die out. But instead, we're seeing them grow, become more dangerous. Where does that growth come from?"
*Adrian furrowed his eyebrows, thinking.*
"This might be a little off topic, but where do zombies get their energy? Because they seem to have an almost limitless amount of endurance, despite not having any fat stores, or muscles, in some cases, or even stomachs. Do they have unlimited energy?"
*Adrian leaned back at the end, chuckling to himself. He wanted to see the group's reaction to the outlandish claim.*
"Well, in any case, nearly doubling your muscle density should definitely improve your force output. Just make sure to eat well, if you do, I imagine you'll be needing a lot of protein."
*Adrian nodded, agreeing.*
"That would probably be a lot easier, I'm pretty sure that gorillas go so far as being in the same family as humans, so they'd be a lot easier to replicate. How strong are you now?"
*Adrian raised an eyebrow.*
"Did you now? May I ask you to elaborate?"
( @JoeDM123123 my bad.)
*He then turned back to Uriah.*
"I'd worry about getting a protein from an animal in the same phylum, before you start you try jumping kingdoms."
*Adrian sighed.*
"I don't think that you can apply the same principles to arctic fish, which existed before the apocalypse, as you do for the magic that the 'Florist', her serum, and the zombies possess."
*Adrian leaned back again, the topic frustrating him.*
*Adrian shrugged again.*
"I wouldn't overthink it. A biological compound get its fancy name only because cells figured out how to make it. A biological compound is the same as any other chemical compound, so he should perform just swell."
*Adrian shrugged.*
"I don't know that their genome is necessary, we might just need the protein. And if we need the protein, our local alchemist can probably hook us up."
*Adrian referenced Axel as he said the last sentence.*
*Adrian nodded, backing off a little bit.*
"That's fair, that's fair. I'm sorry for being excitable."
*Adrian sat in thought for a minute.*
"I do think those might be our best options, though. Either introduction or exposure. Your cells obviously have some kind of intelligence guiding them so that they don't give you a heart attack or blood clot or anything, so I think it might be a safe assumption that they'll be more beneficially adaptable than those that might be found in normal conditions. There are countless instances of cells essentially absorbing smaller organisms into their system, and assimilating them into the genome of the multicellular organism. And as far as exposure goes, your body might rapidly go through a rapid series of epigenetic changes before landing on the production of these antifreeze glycoproteins. I still don't know for sure, however."
*Adrian chokes, seeming to catch a laugh.*
"I don't know what about your abilities make you think that you abide by human abilities, but you don't. The de-aging isn't even the most alarming part. You can almost instantly transform your cells into more useful forms allowing for, what, bone armor? Painlessness? I don't recall what all else I've seen, but your body is far from keeping to human limits. I don't honestly know the best solution to your problem, because most of what I know seems to get violated whenever abilities come up, but I would suggest either forcing introduction of the proteins into your system, or a form of exposure therapy consisting of Prim freezing you mostly to death. Personally, I'd opt for the former solution, but then, none of what I know seems to apply anymore, so if you have a better solution, go for it."
*Adrian gets miffed whenever the topic of his knowledge no-longer applying gets brought up.*
*Adrian read through quickly, before nodding approvingly.*
"That looks really feasible, actually. If you're looking to replicate that, then the only thing you need is to produce some proteins. If you know how, you can just infuse a few of those proteins into your blood when your body makes it."
*Adrian listened, nodding along the way.*
"That makes a lot of sense, from what I've seen. Your ability seems really cool, actually. And it has so many questions attached to it too. What I referred to earlier was your old genetic code, from when you were twenty-five. As your cells reproduce, genetic information is lost and damaged, causing poorer skin, gray hairs, symptoms of that nature, because your cellular reproduction inevitably causes mutation. So where do your cells retrieve the lost information? How do your cells know to interpret your subconscious desires to transform into different types of cells? How do you cells know what situation will work in what way? Your whole schtick literally redefines the laws of evolution, and I'm surprised you're still as human as you are."
*Adrian nodded.*
"Your power had something to do with your cells, right? They must have returned you to your 'peak' status, though I wonder where the old genetic information was stored."
*Adrian laughs at himself, a bit.*
"I wish that I had the opportunity and time to be able to study everything. Everyone here is basically a scientist's wet dream, and I might not be a scientist, but I would be if this were the world I grew up in."
"My ability is just that, actually. From what I can tell, I sort of got an overall improvement. I can't say for sure what improved mentally, though something seems to have changed there. Physically, however, I move faster, hit harder, and heal better than most of our crew. Exceptions notwithstanding."
*He references Ace, Jack, Nicole, and Law, as well as any others that stand out more in any of those fields.*
*Adrian shrugged his shoulders, in an admitting-he's-wrong sort of way.*
"That makes what happened make a lot more sense, I suppose. Do we know if he's got any sort of healing factor?"
*Adrian nods.*
"Yeah, it feels a lot like he's a glass cannon. He hits hard, but gets hit harder. He needs to realize his limits."
*Adrian shrugged to himself as he continued eating the rations.*
"Even if I were injured, I don't think I'd have to be treated."
*Adrian motioned over to Jack.*
"He might be tanking all of the damage, but frankly, I think I might have one of the better recoveries around here."
