- Mandrake Mimicry/Physiology
Capabilities[]
The user either is or can transform into an Alraune, a monstrous plant described by alchemists as taking a form resembling that of a human female with the traits of a plant, most commonly a flower or vice-versa. An Alraune is said to be born when the blood of executed men makes contact with fertile soil and the seeds of plants use them as nourishment to grow instead of water, eventually sprouting into a human/plant hybrid.
Alraunes are said to be extremely amorous creatures incapable of feeling true love like humans can due to having no souls and they resort to reckless nymphomania in a futile attempt to feel something. Alraunes produce nectar and a fragrance that is irresistible to human men and they use said qualities to lure men to them, where they will then have intercourse with them and slowly drain them of their life force, eventually killing them in the process.
The name of these succubus flowers are taken from the 1911 German novel Alraune and its titular character, a female Mandrake created by an alchemist who tries to raise it as his own as part of a “nature vs nurture” experiment.
The word “Alraune” is the German name for the Mandrake plant. Due to heavy use of the Mandrake folklore as influence, Alraunes possess many traits contributed to the mythological version of the root plant such as a death causing scream and roots/fruit with exceptional healing properties when consumed.
