Properties

The user has no superhuman powers of their own, but are able to keep up with and even defeat superpowered beings and stay useful through intelligence, combat training, pragmatism, preparation for any eventuality, wielding advanced technology and weaponry, or a mixture of all five.

Note: For characters to qualify under this archetype, they have to exist a world where there's superhuman, mutant or extranormal beings and they themselves are normal.

Prior to learning Ki control from Gohan, Videl was just a regular Earthling girl but was nonetheless the strongest female fighter on Earth next to Chi-Chi.

Nam (Dragon Ball series) was able to match a young Saiyan like Goku and briefly knock him out as well as jump high into the sky with his pure physical prowess.

While untrained in Ki control, Yajirobe (Dragon Ball series) is still an incredibly strong fighter able to match a preteen Goku...

One Piece

Dracule "Hawk Eye" Mihawk is a normal human without Devil Fruit powers, yet is considered Shanks' equal in battle as the "greatest swordsman in the world" and admits the only reason he never became an Emperor like Shanks was due to lack of ambition.

Before his death, Gol D. "Gold" Roger was a normal human without a Devil Fruit power, and yet, he became the Pirate King, one of the most powerful and feared man who ever lived...

...even when was stick with a lethal disease, he was able to clash evenly with his longtime rival, Edward Newgate/Whitebeard, who possessed a Devil Fruit power that could destroy the world.

Like his late captain, "Red Haired" Shanks doesn't have a Devil Fruit ability, but is still one of the strongest people alive. Despite him losing an arm, he is feared enough to end one of the biggest wars by just threatening to get involved.

Kozuki Oden was such a powerful warrior and swordsman...

...He almost managed to defeat Kaidou, who ate a powerful Mythological Zoan-class Devil Fruit, with nothing but his swordsman skills.

Monkey D. Garp, "The Fist" is one of the highest ranked marines without a Devil Fruit power and was considered to be Gold Roger's equal in battle back in their time.

Thanks to immense determination and brutal training, Koby (One Piece) eventually became powerful enough to challenge the Emperors of the New World and is considered by Garp to be a worthy successor to him.

Nami relies on her navigational and weather prediction skills to fight, which combined with her Clima-Tact, allows her to remain as effective as a fighter as her crewmates.

Roronoa Zoro doesn't have a Devil Fruit power, but using his sword skills alone, he could match his captain who did eat one. He earned fame as the Pirate Hunter, being able to defeat some of the strongest pirates and Marines around...

...he became the second person to leave a scar on the nigh-invincible, Kaidou. A notable feat as the sole person who did so was the legendary samurai, Kozuki Oden despite being younger than him when he did so.

Prior to awakening his dormant superhuman genes, Sanji "was born human" yet thanks to training from pirate Red Foot Zeff was still amazingly strong and tough being able to overpower Devil Fruit users and match Zoro...

...and block attacks from someone as powerful as Big Mom alongside his captain Luffy a Devil Fruit user.

Silvers Rayleigh, also known as the Dark King, doesn't have a Devil Fruit power either, but was powerful enough to become Roger's right-hand. Even in his old age and retirement, he remains one of the most powerful warriors to clash against the one of the Marine's greatest fighters.

Usopp admits that he isn't as strong as the others but makes up for it using his strategic skills and marksmanship.

The only member of the Donquixote Pirates without a Devil Fruit, Vergo is still exceptionally strong...

...overwhelming the likes of Trafalgar Law in combat.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Hashibira Inosuke like his friends is a normal human despite wearing a boar's head as a mask...

An ex-US marine along with his brother, Joe Baker (Resident Evil) is a highly capable and resourceful survivor...

...Despite being a regular human, Joe's peak human condition over the top (though not as much as Chris, who could smash a boulder with his bare hands), to the point where he can smash through frail barriers, take out Molded with his bare hands...

...In addition to receiving the AMG-78 power gauntlet, Joe has some degree of superhuman strength in his left hand, allowing him to take out Molded and smash through fortified barriers with ease at the glove's full charge.

While he has no Devil Gene or supernatural power, Heihachi Mishima (Tekken) more than gets by on martial arts training and his peak condition.

Paul Phoenix (Tekken), despite lacking any superpower, with just his martial arts skill, was able to defeat Ancient Ogre, an immensely powerful monster who has existed on earth for billions of years, and fight Kazuya Mishima to a draw.
