As an archetype, a demon king or emperor is the most powerful of the demon lords who is under the devil or may be the devil itself. Ruling over hordes of demons and possessing advanced demonic powers over lesser demons under them.

Trivia[]

This archetype has its roots in medieval Japanese history. The 16th-century samurai warlord Oda Nobunaga was the basis for it due to his controversial history of being a ruthless ruler who nicknamed himself the "Demon King of the Sixth Heaven". The demon king is also a common trope in fiction (especially modern Japanese fantasy genres) who rules over demons and various if not all monsters.
