The character is a dragon who's magic is extremely powerful that it match up to an Archmage as they possess the highest forms of magic. Some of these dragons are naturally born with magic while others gained magic through just the study of it to become the most powerful of dragons ever known. Not only are these dragons capable of controlling, manipulating, conjuring and mastering nearly every form of magic in existence, but they may also hold a particularly powerful command over various other mystic as well.

Daurgothoth, the creeping doom (Forgotten Realms) the dracolich is one of the most powerful magic-users in the Realms. He's functionally reached the limits of arcane powers and has spent the past several centuries actively experimenting with and inventing new spells and ways to use old ones. As a result of this, he's easily the most proactive and productive magical researcher in the world. Mechanically, this is represented by him being a full-level wizard with five levels in the Archmage prestige class. He's not a Chosen of Mystra, but she has declared him off-limits to her Chosen because of how much his endless experimenting has expanded the Art.
