"The gods of Olympus make themselves known with the gentle lap of waves against the shores and the crash of thunder among the cloud-enshrouded peaks. The thick boar-infested woods and the sere, olive-colored hillsides hold evidence of their passing. Every aspect of nature echoes with their presence, and they've made a place for themselves inside the human heart too."
― A description of the Greek pantheon (Dungeons and Dragons)
"The ancient Greeks did not believe that the gods created the universe but rather that the universe created the gods. Long before the creation of the gods, heaven and earth had already been formed. Heaven and earth were referred to as the parents and their children, the Titans. The Elder gods, also called the Titans, were known to have super strength and enormous size. The most powerful of the Titans was Cronus, who was the ruler of his kin. One day, however, his son Zeus, a mere god, dethroned Cronus and made himself ruler of all gods. He and the other gods, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, and Hephaestus, were the 12 great Olympians. Immortal and invincible, they watched mortal men from their abode on Mt. Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece. It is said that the entrance of Olympus is a great gate made up of clouds. It is a peaceful paradise where there are stretches of cloudless skies, endless sunshine, and where the sound of Apollo's lyre can be heard playing."
― A description of the Greek pantheon (Smite franchise)
"You know, some say I have a face like a Greek God."
"Well, you are a Greek god, so..."
― King Poseidon and the chancellor (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run)

Capabilities[]

Users can draw power and abilities connected to the Gods of ancient Greek Mythology.

The Greeks had three separate ruling dynasties of gods, which each replaced the earlier one, as well as several minor deities that were essentially personified concepts. In addition, there are some deities that don't really belong in any of these groups and were usually somewhat outsiders in relationship with rest of the pantheon.

From the most recent to earliest, the Divine dynasties are:

  • Twelve Olympians, who were either direct descendants or grandchildren of the processing Dynasty's rulers Cronus and Rhea.
  • Titans, ruled by descendants of Gaia and Uranus and overthrown in Titanomachy. Those Titans who fought against Olympians were imprisoned and/or punished, while those that either assisted them or stayed neutral were left free.
  • Protogenoi, the Primordial deities and the first entities or beings that come into existence. They form the very fabric of the universe and as such are immortal, everything in existence descents from them, including all the other gods. Unlike the Titans, when Cronus overthrew Uranus, they didn't lose their power or position, for the very simple reason that they form the existence.
