The archetype of a fictional headhunter.
Properties[]
The character is a fictional headhunter, an individual that engages in the practice of headhunting (hunting and decapitating a human (or similar being), keeping their head as a trophy, usually for ceremonial purposes).
In fiction, two distinct types of headhunters have come into being: the original (often semi-mystical) Headhunter who engages in trophy-hunting either as a magical ritual or part of his/her culture and the modern/alien Headhunter, who is a member of a highly technological society and engages in headhunting as a ritual with no obvious magical leanings.
Due to this, headhunters can be found in almost every type of fiction ranging from fantasy settings to science-fiction and horror; while feared by outsiders, a headhunter is not always an evil archetype (though by its nature, it is often adversarial). In fact, many headhunters have very strong codes of honor and respect for their "hunt".
Of course, there are also the exact opposites, who lack any sort of honor whatsoever but be wary when adding these individuals as they can easily overlap with sociopaths/psychopaths. Also of importance is that headhunters don't simply engage in random mutilations; they must be prone to collecting (as expected) the head (or skulls) of those they kill. Often, they hold these trophies in very high (almost sacred) regard.
