- Occultism: Horror Heroes who use Occultism or it's variations and are generally connected to mysticism and other supernatural forces. Most typically Black Magic, Voodoo and Demonic Magic.
- Horror Creature Physiology: Horror Heroes who are powerful animal creatures and supernatural creatures such as nigh-omnipotent animal creatures, monsters, demons, vampires, ghosts, etc. but have a human spirit and use their monstrous powers to battle evil, such as other monsters.
- Horror Survivor: Horror Heroes who survived a horrific encounter such as a monster attack or deranged killer and now dedicate their lives to fighting said horrors and protecting others if they can help it.

- Berserker
- Many Horror Heroes are terrifyingly brutal in combat, being able to suppress all emotions except for rage and bloodlust to decimate enemies with the overwhelming brutality and speed of their attacks.
