The archetype of a hero with an innate connection to horror, dread, fear and terror. Variation of Heroic. Opposite to Horror Villain.

Properties[]

The user is a horror hero, a type of hero or protagonist in fiction, most commonly the horror genre that possesses an innate connection to elements of horror, dread, fear and terror. They possess horror-themed powers, traits and attributes and generally have a connection to horrific phenomena, entities and happenings in their character and setting.

Associated Powers[]

  • Enhanced Violence: Horror Heroes are capable of terrifying levels of violence.
  • Fear Manipulation: Horror Heroes possess many fear-related abilities and capabilities by nature.
  • Indomitable Rage/Hatred: Horror Heroes possess a rage and hatred that they draw great might from to fight their many opponents and overwhelm their enemies.
  • Killing Instinct: Horror Heroes possess killer instincts and a lust for blood which they can use to quickly defeat opponents even without necessarily killing them.
  • Menacing Presence: Horror Heroes have a naturally menacing presence that fills the area with dread and fear when they enter.
  • Supernatural Combat: Horror Heroes are highly proficient combatants and are terrifying opponents due to their innate connection to horror.
  • Supernatural Condition: The physical qualities of Horror Heroes such as strength, speed, durability, endurance and senses are far above a human being’s even if they are human themselves due to their connection to horror or having a history of fighting horrific forces.
  • Weapon Proficiency: Many Horror Heroes possess a large range of weaponry, most commonly cursed and demonic weaponry as well as weaponry imbued with horrific power.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Supernatural phenomenon and creatures are naturally drawn towards Horror Heroes.

  • Eldritch Physiology: Horror Heroes with innate connections to eldritch and cosmic horrors, possessing the abilities of eldritch beings or even being eldritch in origin themselves.
  • Hell Hero: Hell Heroes are varient kind to horror hero that are connected to hell and can even come from there.
  • Occultism: Horror Heroes who use Occultism or it's variations and are generally connected to mysticism and other supernatural forces. Most typically Black Magic, Voodoo and Demonic Magic.
  • Horror Creature Physiology: Horror Heroes who are powerful animal creatures and supernatural creatures such as nigh-omnipotent animal creatures, monsters, demons, vampires, ghosts, etc. but have a human spirit and use their monstrous powers to battle evil, such as other monsters.
  • Horror Survivor: Horror Heroes who survived a horrific encounter such as a monster attack or deranged killer and now dedicate their lives to fighting said horrors and protecting others if they can help it.
  • Serial Killer: Horror Heroes who are deranged killers or mass murderers towards evil are highly proficient in the art of killing but they mostly kill those they believe deserve to die, delivering justice as judge, jury and executioner.
  • Supernatural Detective: Horror Heroes who are detectives that specialize in paranormal cases. Some are even supernatural in nature themselves.
  • Supernatural Hunter: Horror Heroes who hunt monsters and other kinds of supernatural creatures and forces for a living, as well as protect others from said supernatural forces. Some are even supernatural in nature themselves.

  • Anti-Hero
    • Most if not all Horror Heroes, are considered anti-heroes as some want to do good but struggle to suppress their dark or evil nature, which they formerly might be part of.
  • Anti-Villain
    • Other Horror Heroes are considered anti-villains as they do genuinely good and noble things but through dark deeds, such as killing.
  • Berserker
    • Many Horror Heroes are terrifyingly brutal in combat, being able to suppress all emotions except for rage and bloodlust to decimate enemies with the overwhelming brutality and speed of their attacks.

Flaws/Weaknesses[]

  • As heroes of the Horror genre, certain characters personify horror and feelings of fear and dread associated with the genre, powers associated with hope and positive emotions such as Happiness Inducement and Hope Embodiment are direct counters.
  • Horror Heroes that are associated with dark and evil forces can be weakened or harmed by good or holy forces, even if they are good themselves.
  • Horror Heroes may find it difficult to keep their humanity and do good things due to their dark nature.
  • Monster Slayer and Supernatural Hunter are worthy matches against Monster variant Horror Heroes.
  • Horror Heroes who kill or generally do bad things are susceptible to Punishment and Karma Inducement.
