As an archetype, light deities, also known as “gods of light,” are gods and goddesses who represents or are associated with the element of light. Light deities can be found throughout most of recorded history in various forms.

This should not be confused with a solar deity, as a solar deities main focus is the sun, whereas a light deity's domain is more specifically the light and the aspects of where it comes from. However, in some cases this can also include the light from the sun.
