- "Gods are real if you believe in them."
- ― Mr. Wednesday/Odin (American Gods)
- "True, I'm infinite and eternal. But even I was shaped by forces external to me. You know what they are."
- ― The Presence (DC Comics)
- "They made the world that had already been there into his creation. That the only way of making him truly omnipotent. Indeed. That god was artificially made as an answer to the hopes and dreams of mankind. A construct of blind obsession and faith that would be responsible for all creation. The power of God is just the undiluted hope of mankind. So potent is plunged us from the divine to the demonic."

The user is the collective unconscious will of something. They embody all that thing's unconscious thoughts and desires and act as an impartial executor of its will. According to Jung, the human collective unconscious is populated by instincts, as well as by archetypes: ancient primal symbols such as The Great Mother, the Wise Old Man, the Shadow and the Tree of Life.
Jung suggested that parapsychology, alchemy, and occult religious ideas could contribute understanding of the collective unconscious. Based on his interpretation of synchronicity and extra-sensory perception, Jung argued that psychic activity transcended the brain.
