Superpower Wiki

The power to have power over a demonic name. Variation of True Name Manipulation and Sorcery. Method of Demonic Subjugation. Not be confused with just Cursed Name, Demonic Subjugation or Demon Summoning.

Also Called[]

  • Demon Name Command/Manipulation
  • Demon's True Name
  • Infernal Names

Capabilities[]

The users of this power have a supernatural quality to their name which causes those who speak said name aloud to call upon demonic phenomena (almost always malevolent in nature and with the absolute potential to become dangerous if attempted or misused), the power of the name is so powerful that it can cause dark miracles, infuse those who speak it with demonic power, force a demonic intervention, summon and/or banish an agent of the demon in question or the very demonic entity itself, and even still manipulate these demonic entities to gain future knowledge.

Unlike cursed name which is the power of great misfortune and fear with these names, gain negative influence etc., or just demonic subjugation which doesn't require the demons name to control them, however this is a form of subjugation over demons and can be a sub-power of this ability given the right circumstances. A demonic name is the given name of demons themselves, which are dark/unnatural evil entities and can grant greater powers if the user of the demon's name possesses great power and intent over the demon. And unlike demon summoning you have to have the name of the demon to be able to summon a particular demon and use their name to gain control over them, whereas just summoning them gives you no control over them.

Due to the nature of a demonic name, it can have a wide variety of effects, the following below are samples of common traits that are not always manifested and often each entity has one of more unique traits.

Applications[]

Associations[]

Limitations[]

  • Damnation
    • If the user of the demons name were to lose control over the demon they'd lose what they gained or it would be warped into something much more sinister against them, and even worse their soul could be dragged to hell as payment and/or punishment for using that name against the demon's will.
  • Demons are habitual liars, any name a magician may gain would have to be tested and if it was not the true name they face severe consequences.
  • Some demons have cursed their true name, weaponizing it against those who seek to use it to dominate them.
  • Some demons have no true name and are thus immune to all attempts to dominate via said name.
