"Look at me! I'm not even human anymore! I'm a... an elemental freak!"
― Rex Mason/Metamorpho (DC Comics)

The power to transform into or have a physical body made up of elements. Technique of Elemental Generation. Variation of Inorganic Mimicry.

Also Called[]

  • Elemental Condition
  • Elemental Entity Body/Mimicry/Physiology
  • Elementling Body/Mimicry/Physiology

Capabilities[]

The user is made of or can transform their body into elements. This typically includes the classical elements, but it could also include exotic things like shadow, plant matter, or plastic depending on the setting. In some cases, transforming users may still retain their original anatomy (e.g., a humanoid shape and possible even internal organs) while changing only the composition of their physical form. Alternately, some users may transform into homogeneous matter, without any part of their form being more important than the other.

Some users are born and composed of their element, and these are often called 'Elementals'. Such users may simply be composed of elemental matter/energy and have no specific power over those elements, while others might have Elemental Manipulation tied to their nature. Elementals in fiction run the range from being mindless incarnations of flame to ancient and wise spirits, and they might take any number of forms. Depending on the setting, Elementals may additionally be classed as spirits, gods, genies, fey, or any number of other such beings.

Associations[]

Limitations[]

  • Some users may not be able to return to their original body/form.
  • May only be able to mimic substances they can touch.
  • May require constant contact with element to stay in transformed state.
  • Opposite elements may contradict each other.
  • Clothes and equipment may not shapeshift with the user.
  • If the user is rendered unconscious, their body might automatically transform into their normal state.
  • The user is often subject to all effects that affect the material they are made of.
    • If composed of reactionary elements, the user can be rendered inert at sub-zero temperatures due to chemical reactions ceasing at that point.
  • The elemental form may have different needs than a normal human - for example, a fire elemental that needs to constantly be burning things.
  • Elemental Negation - may actively and physically harm the user
  • Elemental Immunity - the user may be unable to affect targets with the proper immunity
