The power to the change or alter the chemical compounds of a substance by mentally rearranging its atomic structure.May be a partial power of Elemental Manipulation.
Also Called
- Chemical Manipulation
- Transmutation
- Alchemy
Capability
The user can transmutate chemical elements with their mind. Can change any element form, liquid form, gaseous form, or even plasma form. Some users are limited to a single chemical source or target, others can turn anything into anything.
Usages
- Turn into a solid, liquid or gaseous form.
- Cause solid objects to disintegrate.
- Can speed up chemical reactions.
- Cause explosions.
- Turn an enemy into a statue.
- Turn the fresh air into a poison gas.
- Turn metal into gold.
- Can generate lightning by manipulating the charges of atoms.
- Turn minerals into metal.
- Crystallize objects.
- Increase the heat of an object, burning it.
- Decrease an objects' heat freezing it.
- Can kill a human by poisoning the human's body.
- Limited Poison Generation
- Limited regeneration.
Universe Differences
In the manga "Fullmetal Alchemist", the process generally requires a circular array, though the design varies depending on the intent. The method of carrying it also varies, from drawing it with chalk, having it pre-drawn on paper or stitched into clothing, or even desperately drawing it in one's own blood.
Alchemists who absorb knowledge from The Gate of Truth, (notably Edward Elric, Izumi Curtis, and the Homunculus, Wrath) can clasp their arms (real or prosthetic) and then simply touch the material to be transmuted, though the process is very rare.
Techniques
Some can perform:
- “sanitization”: to exude a psionic force that kills pathogens.
- "odor generation": to control scents, aromas, and odors.
- "item repair": manipulating the atoms of a broken object to restore it
- "partial transmutation": pulling an object apart at the atomic level
- "heat manipulation": controlling the objects atoms to increase or decrease heat
- "flame enhancement": drawing more flammable gases towards a flame to increase its power
