Taking advantage of their fear of fire, Ma'alefa'ak (DC Comics) drove the Green Martian race to extinction using a virus called H'ronmeer's Curse, which set ablaze their bodies whenever they used their telepathy, thus destroying his entire species down to all but few individuals.
