Capabilities

Users of this ability are capable of creating and using fairy rings, these are rings of mushrooms and other plants found in forests and in many folk tales and fantasy settings they are the result of a band of fairies dancing - these rings hold many magical properties but are considered dangerous to mortals, with a common theme being that those who enter a fairy ring end up cursed and "away with the fairies".

Victims can end up dancing to exhaustion, becoming paralyzed or falling asleep, going mad or experiencing great loss of time (for example they may dance for what they see as a few hours only to realize they have been gone for years or even decades. Some even disappear entirely, taken to the Other World (the realm of fairies) in some settings, fairy rings are also how fairies and other fay enter the mortal world.

In addition to standing in the rings, mortals risked even greater dangers if they dared to try and destroy a fairy ring as this could invoke extremely bad luck, shortening of their lives and even outright death. For this reason, it was considered deeply taboo to build over a fairy ring or disturb it.

Limitations

• Requires a victim to enter the circle for it to activate (or in the case of the more dangerous curses requires a victim to disturb or try to destroy the ring).
• Victims can be rescued if an outsider finds them in time and pulls them out of the circle, though this runs risk of them also getting trapped (this will not protect someone who damages a fairy ring, however, in order to save oneself at that point requires appeasement of the fay).
• Due to being created by fairies it has no effect on fairies / fay.
• Due to being magical in nature they have no effect on Magic Immunity.
• Charms designed to ward off fairy magic would also by extension protect against these rings.
