Capabilities

Users are or can become a superior troll, a sub-type of troll that has more in common with Giants than the regular troll and often serves a more spiritual role, often as an embodiment of natural disasters or hazards, some of them are also simply extremely large and powerful individuals within the Troll race who have gained a legendary status much like mythological human heroes.

Superior trolls can thus often fare better in combat than regular trolls and may be a match for some demigods or similar, though they are never on even match with the gods or the mightier variants of giants - to regular humans however a superior troll is a near-unstoppable force and a much more difficult opponent than a normal troll, as it is not uncommon for superior trolls to grow to the size of mountains. Some of the more "intelligent" superior troll may have even learned magic or taken on the role of alpha monster.

Limitations

• Extremely vulnerable to sunlight, which will often petrify them.
• Much like giants, they rank significantly below gods or transcendent beings (including the "Transcendent Giants")
• Limited intellect; almost all Troll Lords are either animal-like or extremely unintelligent, just like regular trolls - some can be "smart" but even these "intelligent" Troll Lords tend to be less than smart when compared to other humanoids such as humans, elves or other fairy folk.

Greater Troll (Crypto-zoology) is an infamous photo supposedly depicting a real troll, taken in the 1940's, later revealed to be a hoax.

Tusseladd (Trollhunter) was among the largest and most powerful trolls in the movie, save for the Jotunn, towering at a height nearly as large as the trees themselves.

Trolls (God of War) are far more powerful than usual depictions of trolls, capable of facing off in prolonged combat with Kratos himself.

Greater Trolls (Mythology) could perform incredible feats of magic, such as becoming living mountains..

..or towering over the landscape, however they often got caught in sunlight and thus many large rock formations are said to be the result of Greater Trolls being petrified.
