Capabilities

The user, either innately or through training, is a master of gōjū-ryū, a combat style that incorporates both circular and linear movements into its curriculum, combining hard striking attacks such as kicks and close hand punches with softer open hand circular techniques for attacking, blocking, and controlling the opponent, including joint locks, grappling, takedowns, and throws. Gō, which means hard, refers to closed hand techniques or straight linear attacks; jū, which means soft, refers to open hand techniques and circular movements.

By having Daniel LaRusso do everyday chores, Kesuke Miyagi (The Karate Kid series) was able to teach him martial art moves, incorporating the basic actions found in everyday actions into self-defense.

RJ (Power Rangers: Jungle Fury) has a Miyagi-method of teaching as seen in The Karate Kid, using random chores as a way of teaching martial arts, such as "Wax on, wax off," much like the character in the movie, Keisuke Miyagi.
