- ― Abraham Lincoln

- ― Terry Pratchett (The Color of Magic)
The power to have eternal life and inability to die through conventional means. Opposite to Mortality. Not to be confused with Invulnerability.
Also Called[]
- Absolute Longevity
- Death Immunity
- Deathlessness
- Endless/Eternal/Everlasting Life
- Functional Immortality
- Immortal Condition
Capabilities[]
The user has the power/ability to exist eternally without succumbing to age, disease, or fatal injury, rendering the user functionally undying and unaging. It encompasses a complete exemption from natural decay and biological needs, and in advanced forms, may involve regeneration, resurrection, body-hopping, or transcendence beyond the concept of death itself.
Types[]
- Absolute Life-Force - To be immortal by possessing an unlimited supply of life energy. Allowing the user to be too tolerant to die naturally.
- Cybernetic Aging - Age at a delayed/suppressed rate using cybernetic enhancements.
- Undead Physiology - Characters who cannot die due to technically being already dead, often overlapping with other forms of immortality. This includes characters who can keep existing as spiritual entities upon dying.
- Zombie Physiology - Since the user is a reanimated corpse, they have no way to age physically, they can never run out of energy or sustenance in any way, and they are always resilient when it comes to harm and physical damage.
- Ghost - No body to destroy. The soul, one that is not of a physical being, does not inherit physical characteristics, such as concepts of destruction, therefore cannot be destroyed; in short, the user cannot die because it is already dead. A common form of immortality.
- Immortal Cloning - The user is able to attain a sort of immortality by abandoning bodies whenever necessary to transfer their consciousness to another body, whether they are possessing someone else or switching to a backup body.
- Resiliant Immortality Characters with this degree of immortality can indefinitely survive injuries that would otherwise be lethal to a normal person, without needing to heal.
- Life and Death Transcendence - Be beyond the very concepts of life and death and immune to all life and death-based powers.
- Cartoon Immortality - Gain Immortality due to cartoon physics.
- Evolutionary Immortality - Be immortal by adapting and evolving.
- Mental Continuation - The mind/consciousness continues to live on even if the body dies off. They're true selves exist independently from the plane where they can be killed.
- Personal Mortality - Moderate individual mortality at will.
- Regenerative Immortality - Achieve immortality through one's regenerative capabilities, the user's regeneration would be so advanced that they would not only remain at an optimal condition and peak health forever, being immune to anything from dementia to mutations, but would also essentially attain a form of Immortality that makes them unkillable and eternally youthful. They would also be able to survive without any form of sustenance and be completely immune to any form of harmful foreign substance, detrimental conditions, hereditary illnesses, unformed limbs, birth defects etc.
- Reliant Immortality - Be immortal as long as a certain being, object, place, and/or concept may grant them those benefits, losing them otherwise.
- Concept-Dependent Immortality - Be immortal as long as the concept they are tied exists.
- Core-Reliant Immortality - Be immortal for as long as the core of one’s body remains intact.
- Concept-Dependent Immortality - Be immortal as long as the concept they are tied exists.
- Temporal Immortality - Can stop the effects of time and therefore live forever through time manipulation/chronokinesis.
- Death Transformation - Become immortal by entering a state of transformation upon death.
- Life Transcendence - Characters who exist unbound by conventional life or death, or do not exist at all, and thus cannot be traditionally killed. Typically, abilities such as Existence Erasure are needed to destroy them.
- Retroactive Immortality - The ability to always come back to life or return to the world after dying. Characters with this ability are immortal because, whenever they die, they will simply come back.
- Infinite Resurrection - The ability to be resurrected for an unlimited amount of times after death. Characters with this power will ability come back to life without gaining a new body or living in a different time period.
- Reincarnation - The power to be reincarnated following "death"; can result in gaining a new body in a different time, but still retaining the same memories from past lives.
- Immortal Rebirth - Be born again in a different time with different parents, while retaining the same body, personality, and overall mannerisms.
Applications[]
- Life Resilience - The User is immune to death by Death-Force Manipulation.
- Regenerative Healing Factor to Body Part/Body Restoration- Varies
- Supernatural Longevity - To be ageless.
- Supernatural Survivability - Users can survive injuries and conditions far greater than other individuals.
- Self-Sustenance - Users can survive without the need for bodily resources, such as food, water, sleep, or oxygen.
Levels[]

- Bionic Physiology

- Eternal Existence - always exist forever.
- Immortal Conqueror/Warrior

- Superior/Supernatural Human Physiology
- Transcendent Physiology

Limitations[]
- Absolute Death Manipulation/Unavertable Death
- Absolute Character Erasure and Absolute Destruction can destroy/erase the user out of existence, as opposed to killing them.
- Immortality Bypassing/Negation/Removal or Immortal Slayer.
- Does not necessarily come with Regeneration. The user might still suffer the limits of a natural healing process or be forced to continue surviving in states others could not.
- May still suffer the negative effects of plagues & toxins the same as anyone else.
- While they can't be killed through normal methods, creative opponents may be able to find methods to achieve practically the same effect, such as ripping out their souls.
- Cannot overcome the end of time, unless the form of immortality is an absolute type, hence why just like Regenerative Healing Factor, it is unclear how long it would last.
- May be erased from history via the effects of time-manipulating powers, killing the immortals in question before they become immortal.
- While users are immune to the ravages of time, most are vulnerable against direct application used against them.
- Can be sealed/imprisoned in an empty dimension with no chance to escape.
- May develop a nihilistic worldview or driven outright insane from being unable to die.
- User might able to keep their mind from driven insanity but will have their body deteriorated as they remain living for long time and vice versa
- May permanently losing parts of their body like internal organ, leg, hand during obtain immortality process/rituals
Trivia[]
- It is highly likely that various kinds of Immortality can become a curse because if anyone close to them or even their friends had passed away, the user would be left behind unless the user is also gifted the ability to travel to both Earth and Heaven, or alternatively Planeswalking to keep the curse of being immortal at bay.
