- ― Terry Pratchett (The Color of Magic)
The power to have eternal life. Opposite to Mortality. Not to be confused with Invulnerability.
Also Called[]
- Absolute Longevity
- Biological Immortality
- Death Immunity
- Deathlessness
- Endless/Eternal/Everlasting Life
- Immortal Condition
Capabilities[]
Users possesses immortality, a state where one has eternal life and is undying. They never age, are completely self-sustaining, free from all bodily necessities and can survive virtually any kind of harm, remaining immune to all forms of decay. Any damage done to the user would either be regenerated or simply remain non-fatal. As a byproduct of having everlasting life, users may have an infinite reservoir of life energy that fuels the dynamic system of their immortality.
In some cases, users attain immortality through unconventional means, such as resurrecting/reviving themselves after death, switching into new bodies when their current form nears death, or achieving a state of transcendence beyond the concept of death altogether. These alternative paths allow them to achieve eternal life and evade the limitations of mortality.
Types[]
- Absolute Life-Force - To be immortal by possessing an unlimited supply of life energy.
- Cybernetic Aging - Age at a delayed/suppressed rate using cybernetic enhancements.
- Ghost - No body to destroy. The soul, one that is not of a physical being, does not inherit physical characteristics, such as concepts of destruction, therefore cannot be destroyed; in short, the user cannot die because it is already dead. A common form of immortality.
- Immortal Cloning - Transfer one's mind/soul into a clone to cheat death.
- Infinite Resurrection - Death is omitted. Injuries may be inflicted, but complete annihilation is impossible.
- Life and Death Transcendence - Be beyond the very concepts of life and death and immune to all life and death-based powers.
- Death Transformation - Become immortal by entering a state of transformation upon death.
- Life Transcendence - Transcend the limitations of one's life/lifespan and conquer death itself.
- Personal Mortality - Moderate individual mortality at will.
- Reincarnation - The power to be reincarnated following "death"; can result in gaining powers in relation to how the user previously died.
- Immortal Rebirth - Be literally reborn upon death.
- Reversed Aging - Age from an older to younger body.
Applications[]
- Life Resilience - The User is immune to death by Death-Force Manipulation.
- Regenerative Healing Factor to Body Part/Body Restoration- Varies
- Supernatural Longevity - To be ageless.
- Supernatural Survivability - Users can survive injuries and conditions far greater than other individuals.
- Self-Sustenance - Users can survive without the need for bodily resources, such as food, water, sleep, or oxygen.
Variations[]
- Cartoon Immortality - Gain Immortality due to cartoon physics.
- Concept-Dependent Immortality - Be immortal as long as the concept they are tied exists.
- Core-Reliant Immortality - Be immortal for as long as the core of one’s body remains intact.
- Delayed Immortality - Age to a certain point as an immortal/long-lived being.
- Evolutionary Immortality - Be immortal by adapting and evolving.
- Retroactive Immortality - Be immortal by not staying dead.
- Ignorant Immortality- The user is ignorant/unaware of the concept of Death.
- Mental Continuation - The mind/consciousness continues to live on even if the body dies off.
- Personal Mortality - Moderate individual mortality at will.
- Reliant Immortality - Be immortal so long as a certain object, person, etc exists.
- Quantum Immortality - Be the version of one that always survives.
- Temporal Immortality - Can stop the effects of time and therefore live forever through time manipulation/chronokinesis.
Levels[]
- Peak Human Longevity
- Enhanced Longevity
- Supernatural Longevity
- Immortality
- Nigh-Absolute Immortality

Associations[]

- Bionic Physiology

- Eternal Existence - always exist forever.
- Immortal Conqueror/Warrior
- Immortality Manipulation
- Superior/Supernatural Human Physiology
- Transcendent Physiology

- Vampire Physiology
Limitations[]
- Absolute Death Manipulation/Unavertable Death
- Absolute Character Erasure and Absolute Destruction can destroy/erase the user out of existence, as opposed to killing them.
- Immortality Bypassing/Negation/Removal or Immortal Slayer.
- Does not necessarily come with Regeneration. The user might still suffer the limits of a natural healing process or be forced to continue surviving in states others could not.
- May still suffer the negative effects of plagues & toxins the same as anyone else.
- While they can't be killed through normal methods, creative opponents may be able to find methods to achieve practically the same effect, such as ripping out their souls.
- Cannot overcome the end of time, unless the form of immortality is an absolute type, hence why just like Regenerative Healing Factor, it is unclear how long it would last.
- May be erased from history via the effects of time-manipulating powers, killing the immortals in question before they become immortal.
- While users are immune to the ravages of time, most are vulnerable against direct application used against them.
- Can be sealed/imprisoned in an empty dimension with no chance to escape.
- May develop a nihilistic worldview or driven outright insane from being unable to die.
Trivia[]
- It is highly likely that various kinds of Immortality can become a curse because whoever is close to them or even their friends had passed away, the user would be left behind unless the user is also gifted the ability to teleport to both Earth and Heaven, or alternatively Meta Teleportation to keep the curse of being immortal at bay.
