- "But... The future refused to change."
- ― Bad Ending/Game Over Screen (Chrono Trigger)
- "Damage? Silly girl, there is no damage to your past. You cannot damage history, because history cannot be changed. I went back in time to steal this because history says it disappeared, and history says it disappeared because I went back to steal it. Past, present, future, it's all written in stone my dear and nothing you do can change it."
- ― Warp to Starfire (Teen Titans) on his view of Time Travel
- "James Rhodes: If we can do this, you know, go back in time, why don't we just find baby Thanos, you know? And...
Bruce Banner: First of all, that's horrible.
Rhodey: It’s Thanos.
Bruce: And secondly, time doesn't work that way. Changing the past doesn't change the future.
Scott Lang: Look, we go back, we get the stones before Thanos gets them...Thanos doesn't have the stones. Problem solved.
Clint Barton: Bingo.
Nebula: That's not how it works.
Clint: Well, that's what I heard.
Bruce: What? By who? Who told you that?
Rhodey: Star Trek, Terminator, TimeCop, Time After Time,
Scott: Quantum Leap.
Rhodey: A Wrinkle in time, Somewhere in Time...
Hot Tub Time Machine, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Basically, any movie that deals with time travel.
Scott: Die Hard? No, it's not...
Rhodey: This is known.
Bruce: I don't know why everyone believes that, but that isn't true. Think about it: If you travel to the past, that past becomes your future. And your former present becomes the past. Which can't now be changed by your new future...
Nebula: Exactly.
Scott: So Back to the Future's a bunch of bullsh*t?" - ― Bruce Banner/Hulk (Marvel Cinematic Universe) arguably explains to the other Avengers on how real time travel goes
- "Prime Barry: Barry I have to tell you something. I went back in time because…
Flashpoint Barry: Yeah because Mom died.
Prime: How do you know?
Flashpoint: It doesn’t matter does it?
Prime: Then you know I have to undo what I did.
Flashpoint: No. No, it’s not a mistake we can save her and we can save them.
Prime: No we can’t. This is what Bruce was talking about, Barry this is inevitable. We can try a million times and we’re not gonna be able to fix this. No matter what we do, this world dies today." - ― Barry Allen/Flash (Flash/DCEU) to his flashpoint self
- "Danger: Now when I go back things are going to be different.
Cecil: No they won't.
Danger: Excuse me?
Cecil: You can't actually travel through time. Time stays the same. You're just creating multiple versions of yourself who appear at different points in time.
Older Danger: He's wrong, our plan will work.
Cecil: You tried this before and failed. And my guess is that you, already gone back in time a lot. This isn't the first time you traveled back, and everytime you return, you come back worst. Each time your plan fails, you tried again with another you, but when are you going to learn? You can't change the past, you will only cause armageddon." - ― Cecil Wilson (Spy Kids; All the Time in the World) to Danger D'Amo
The power to create an inevitable event in history. Sub-power of Time and Destiny Manipulation. Variation of Universal Irreversibility. Opposite of Temporal Paradox Inducement.
Also Called[]
- An Absolute Point in Time
- Event Locking
- Fixed Point
- Inevitable Intersection (The Flash; 2023)
- Time Locking
Capabilities[]
User can create points in history that is locked and unchangeable. This means that said event will happen, no matter what changes are made in the past. This can allow the user to ensure that the past is never altered and cause dangerous paradoxes. However, the user could use this ability to ensure a situation turns out better for someone. If a time traveler tried to change the event, then they would be refused to enter that particular point in time, or any changes made do not affect the final outcome.
A more enhanced variant of this power is that even if the Future is altered, the user's points in time become unchangeable and fixed even when it comes to future.
Applications[]
- Chronal Anchor when applied to oneself.
- Flawless Precognition
- Temporal Barrier Creation
- Timed Events
Associations[]
Power Mixture[]
- Paradox Inducement is able to break the event in certain situations.
Limitations[]
- Users may not be able to undo the event.
- Since the past can’t be altered to effect changes to the future, users will have to make differences in the present in order to alter their history.
- Omnipotent beings can still change the event.
- Users of Meta Time Manipulation are able to change or stop the event.
