Qui-Gon Jinn (Star Wars) was one of the few Jedi who ever achieve balance within himself and believed the ultimate purpose of the Jedi was to find balance by making a compromise between both the extremes - they could not bend to the dark side, yet they also could not become too rigid.

Luke Skywalker's (Star Wars Legends) willpower and discipline over the Force allowed him to wield the Dark Side of the Force, such as using its abilities like Force Lightning, just as well as the Light Side.
