The ability to manipulate insulation. Opposite to Conductivity Manipulation. Not to be confused with Resistance Manipulation.

Also Called[]

  • Energetic/Energy Resistance Control/Manipulation
  • Insulation Control

Capabilities[]

The user can manipulate insulation, the ability of a material to impede the flow of energy. Contact between materials enables for the transfer of energy (heat, electricity, sound, etc.). The elemental and/or molecular nature of the material defines how well the energetic transfer occurs, as some materials are more effective than others. Conductors are materials capable of easily allowing the flow of energy (electrical power, thermal radiation, sound waves) from a source to a destination. This is often due to a material’s outermost electrons in its atomic structure having a loose configuration; electron mobility enables conductivity.

Metals feature this property and are good conductors. Insulators, on the other hand, feature an atomic structure with little room for electron mobility; electron immobility leads to insulation. Amorphous solids (glass, plastic), ceramics, rubber and even pure water have this type of atomic structure and are good insulators. Practically speaking, insulation is extremely important for preventing things like heat loss in homes, keeping electrical currents from affecting unwanted materials and blocking unwanted sounds from being perceived. In the supernatural sense, controlling insulation (including insulating materials) can enable protection against various types of energetic interactions (attacks, combat moves, paranatural effects, etc.) or even allowing them.
