Users either are or can transform into a mazoku, a supernatural being in Japanese mythology, usually evil ones such as devils or demons.
Depending on the work, mazoku can either be evil beings that are enemies of humans or good beings, or a certain group of beings (not necessarily evil). In all cases, they are generally ruled by a maō or daimaō.
