They can essentially gain any emotion, knowledge, and even memories and personalities, allowing them to perfectly imitate others without flaw.

Although being possessed by Liquid Snake's spirit through his transplanted arm at first during the Tanker Incident and Big Shell Incident, Revolver Ocelot (Metal Gear) was able to remove Liquid's arm in order to restore balance of his psyche, and used hypnosis, psychotherapy, drugs, and nanomachines to transplant the deceased Liquid Snake's thoughts, memories, and mannerisms onto himself, creating a mental doppelgänger of Liquid dubbed Liquid Ocelot.

Venom Snake (Metal Gear) was surgically and mentally altered into a doppelganger of Big Boss by the Dhekelia SBA Memorial Hospital staff.
