- "They call it "Molecular Disequilibrium." A rather dull name, I think. Doesn't quite do justice to what it means. Every cell, in my body, is torn apart and stitched back together. Over, and over, everyday."
- ― Ava Starr (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
The power to phase through quantum mechanics. Sub-power of Quantum Manipulation. Variation of Intangibility.
Also Called[]
- Molecular Disequilibrium (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
- Quantum Intangibility/Phasing/Phase Shifting
Capabilities[]
The user can utilize quantum tunneling, a quantum mechanics phenomenon where a particle (or in this case the user) can pass through potential barriers. The process of quantum tunneling has the particle/user act like a wave function which allows the user to have the probability of appearing on the other side of a potential barrier.
A good way to visualize the process of a living being is as every part of the being is placed on a superposition effectively shifting the user between two states or locations.
Applications[]
- Matter Manipulation
Variations[]
Associations[]
Limitations[]
- Phasing may be painful to the user.
- The user may not be able to return to the same state they shifted out of.
- Powerless against users counteracting the ability at a fundamental level such as Quantum Manipulation, Reality Warping or Intangibility Cancellation.
Known Users[]
- Nathaniel Adam/Captain Atom (DC Comics)
- Yurei (Marvel Comics)
- Ava Starr/Ghost (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
- Fade (Milestone Comics)
