"All memory of your existence will be wiped from reality. You will die, and no one will mourn."
― Magic the Gathering, Door to Nothingness
"Yeah, but, what if after we die, that's it? We're just gone."
"So, just poof? Really? Poof and then, just super nothing?"
"Mmmh."
"Well, it's clean. I'll give you that."
― Bart Simpson and Clancy Wiggum (The Simpsons)

The power to completely and irreversibly erase anything/everything without limitation. Sub-power of Omnipotence. Absolute version of Erasure. Advanced version of Ultimate Erasure. Opposite to Meta-Existence.

  • Anti-Meta-Existence

Capabilities[]

The user can annihilate completely anything and everything, including the totality itself without any protection nor exception of any kind.

There are two main categories of targets: concrete and abstract. Used on concrete targets, the power affects similar to Nothingness Manipulation, effectively annihilating objects and beings. When used on abstract targets, however, the effect is more subtle and similar to Logic Manipulation, annihilating the corresponding targets and reorganizing reality accordingly. For example, erasing the concept of "door" would not only erase the door, but also replace it with a portion of the corresponding wall as if the door never existed.

User can notably determine the "thoroughness" of their erasure by targeting different levels of existence. For example, targeting the physical level alone allows the continuous existence of the soul and the creation/inhabiting of a new vessel, and targeting the spiritual level alone wipes out the soul while leaving the body untouched. In both cases, the recreation of soul and body is achievable by sufficiently advanced abilities, since the existential knowledge defining them (template) is still weaved into the essence of the cosmos. Targeting the conceptual level however erases this existential foundation, leaving no possibility of later restoration except indirectly via erasure of the erasure by targeting the subtractive change itself. Similarly, the targeting can be limited to the present alone, preserving previous history, or include the past as well, exhaustively removing any trace and memory of its existence, like it never was at all.

Nature of the Power[]

To give an illustration, Nonexistence is similar to what happens when the Author decides to remove something from the story before publishing it, which makes aimed targets completely and absolutely erased in the truest sense. Nonexistence would also be similar to the result of Omnipotence focusing its immeasurable power for pure deletion, therefore it ignores all boundaries and will always reach it no matter what. It notably cannot be stopped, defied, redirected or escaped, making Nonexistence the perfect weapon and strongest offensive power that there is. Similarly to Universal Irreversibility, Omnipotence is the only way to restore what was erased with it with its capacity to do impossible, irrational and contradictory feats.

In short, Nonexistence represents the reality of death in real life: inescapable and irreversible, without the slightest hope.

Limitations[]

  • Targets must be clearly identified (beware collateral damage).
  • Creation powers can compensate superficial erasure via meta-existence.
  • Although anything can be erased with this power, omniscient beings would remember everything about what was erased and perfectly realise all of its existence.
