"hmm. that expression... that's the expression of someone who's died eleven times in a row. well, give or take. there's nuance to this stuff. don't think i'll be able to count very well from here. count for me, ok? we'll start from 12."
― Sans (Undertale)

The power to save moments in time and load them back. Combination of Temporal Looping and Video Game Physics. Not to be confused with Temporal Restarting and Temporal Replay.

Also Called[]

  • Autosave
  • Save Scumming
  • Savestate (Emulators)
  • Save and Load
  • Video Game Looping
  • Temporal Reset

Capabilities[]

In most videogames, there is the feature of saving and loading files, working when the player did not finish the game, when they die or when they must exit the game, which inspires this power's mechanics, whose users have the ability to save moments in time to load it back, both consciously or after death. Unlike Temporal Resurrection, the point in time a person travels back to is specific or predetermined and the power only affects the user, and only can be remembered by them.

Applications[]

Techniques[]

Associations[]

Limitations[]

  • May have a limit on how long a save can exist before being removed automatically, making sure that users can only use the most recent save/s.
  • Certain things may prevent reloading.
  • Time can only be reloaded back to the saved point, not a second sooner or later.
  • May have mixed memories from reloads.
  • Users of Spatial-Temporal Lock, Omnilock, or Temporal Protection will know time was reset but may not stop the user.
  • In some cases, this could cause a Butterfly Effect even if the user stays on roughly the same timeline.
  • Users may not be able to change the future because of Destiny Assignment and/or Destiny Chosen.
  • Users cannot stop an Inevitable Event.
  • Pointless to use against users of Temporal Erasure as they can permanently erase all points in time that were saved.
  • User may not be able to control or change the save point.
  • Reload may only take effect if the user performs a certain action, such as dying or falling asleep.
  • If the user saved in a situation where they would inevitably die and would be unable to escape, this would result in an infinite death loop. Ex. reloading to a point where the user is falling straight into lava always leads to inevitable death. (This may not apply to some users who are able to wipe out their own save points or return to previous ones.)
  • This ability may be completely useless in a combat situation for those who doesn't have any experience/skills or any other superpowers that would help them fight, and would only be efficient for information collecting, plotting plans, and deceiving/manipulating others.
  • The user isn't immune or resistant to the effects of other supernatural powers and they are vulnerable towards things that can kill or injure a normal person. This means users with Power Erasure, Power Nullification, and Power Absorption can still affect the user's ability.
  • The user's will may be easily broken by others if forced into an infinite loop of pain/death.
  • Users of Reality Warping, Nigh-Omnipotence, or similar may be able to undo or be unaffected by a temporal reload or just destroy the user's power altogether.
    • Users of Omnipotence would be unaffected by temporal reloads and be capable of destroying the user's power.
  • In some cases, people other than the user who have been exposed to a reload multiple times may gain a sense of déjà vu, allowing them to vaguely remember events from the reload in the form of hunches or a "gut instinct".
  • Reloading to the save point undoes any progress the user has made to achieve victory, so they have to carefully coordinate and remember every step from their previous encounters if they wish to achieve said victory again.
  • Even though the user can go back to a/the saved point, there may be some situations that are unbeatable regardless of how many times the user tries to win.
  • If someone is aware of the user's power, like if they possess Timeline Memory Retainment/Extrasensory Perception, they can plan ahead while factoring in the user's reloads to remove the user's advantage of time reloading.
