Well its honestly easier to be a villain with that power as you can make people do whatever you want. Some people can use it to make Forcefields or Weapons out of psychic energy, I suppose at that level you could use those things to be a hero but thats master level stuff. At advanced level though you have the option of Knowledge Replication so you could find someone extremely skilled in combat and gain those skills. Combine that with your ability to hear your opponents moves before they make them you could really kick ass! And if you get in serious trouble you can just use Neurocognitive Deficit and make a quick getwaway. If you wanted you could go out and about and hear peoples problems and help them from the shadows. In terms of the more mundane/real world stuff it'd be pretty easy to get promotions at work by manipulating your boss.... and in your love life you'll always know what your partner wants in the bedroom ;3
Personally I'd probably use Mind Reading to find out some things about people close to me... see who is really freind or foe. After that It's such a huge power in terms of what you can do that I'd really want to test the limits and see how much I could handle!
I can see Telepathy being used in both positive and negative lights. For one, this power basically grants you the ability to manipulate anyone around you, so long as they don't have a Psychic Shield and this factor can make this power seem really "evil" because if the world knew you had this kind of power there would be 0% trust between you and others, excluding the factor that the government would most likely try to capture you and test on you like a lab rat but these factors would make it seem very, VERY difficult to be the good guy. On the retrospect, This power makes it quite the task to be the good guy as it does not give you much to work with at earlier stages besides information and more reasons not to save people because you could see their sins, etc. However, this power shines in many different ways and one of which is it's Unnoticeability (Not an application but a pun), This power is so incredibly stealthy that nobody would be capable of telling you were peeping into their minds unless they had a power against it (assuming that there are even power users other than you). I'd say this power would be mostly beneficial as a Personal power and not to be used for others.

Same, except that when I'm bored, I go rampaging through the streets or camp somewhere on a high place, spreading chaos and destruc- wait, that's for telekinesis- chaos and confusion wherever I go or am and no one can know that I'm the source.
To be quite honest my plan upon finding out I was telepathic would be the same as if I discovered I had any power or ability. I would go to the most isolated place I know (which by way would be in the uninhabited and EXTREMELY isolated Henderson Island in the South Pacific). Then I would find out the exact nature, limits, and mechanisms of my new power. Once I did that I would practice using my power. First I would practice entering the minds of creatures of all sizes and gathering information from their minds and senses. Then I would practice maintaining said link over an ever greater area and for ever greater durations. Then I would move on to entering the minds of multiple beings at once then proceed to distance and duration training. Finally I would conclude by learning how to remove, alter, or erase information from the minds of creatures (all the while remaining undetected). Once I could do that my final test would be retaining the information gathered. Once I could do that I would emerge from my self imposed seclusion and begin using my power to increase the spread of useful information to all corners of the world. I would also make a point of exposing hypocrites and apostates in humanitarian organizations to the public while remaining as anonymous as possible (that way I could continue to do good and not risk backlash like we’ve seen with various other whistleblowers that couldn’t help but become publicized). Accountability is impossible so long as closed doors (metaphorical or otherwise) and self interest seperate private citizens or industry from the rest of the world. Also when I say apostate I don't mean that in the religious sense but I just those that profess to a certain cause in public but then declaim or jeopardize said cause in private.
