I was once of the opinion that talent did exist but having seen numerous examples of "talented" people whose back stories I am familiar with I have changed my mind. I now believe that what most think of as talent is simply the fruit of hard work, industriousness, and patience without ceremony or pretense (two things neither of which deserve celebration or notice). If this is indeed so than it seems (to me at least) that such a thing should be more widely imitated. If there is something you are not good at that you do nothing to improve upon than that is a shame. Contrarily (a rather dated word maybe but useful nevertheless) if you work to improve on something that is otherwise deficient in yourself, and encourage others to follow suit, than you will usually find the effort and time wise investments. After all even if effort leads no where one will have proven to oneself that personal deficiencies are mutable.
If you go by the definition of talent it is something that one is born with rather than having to develop. That being said if you want something bad enough you will find a way to obtain it.
You have conditions like savant syndrome which means people can have brains wired to do certain things naturally better than almost everybody else without training. Talent does exist since we are all unique and wired for different things, BUT hard work still beats talent more often and most people should not forget that.
