h. Backstory:
Yatziri was once a park ranger who loved telling stories about The Fearsome Critters to tourists, campers, and fellow rangers. One day, after work, she was about to be mugged but managed to escape her assailant. She panicked, even though she dealt with bears, mountain lions, and rogue moose. Then a young man appeared to her by the name of Cumulus Facultas. He offered her the means to be strong, a syringe with a strange fluid inside. Cumulus warned her that it was untested and had no idea what would happen to her. The power would be hers with only the condition that he can watch her for side effects. Yatziri thought about it and remembered how close to death she was without any gear or backup. She took the syringe and plunged it into her arm.
Yatziri was filled with power to the point that it overwhelmed her, and she passed out. She woke up with Cumulus still with her, looking at his tablet, analyzing her. Yatziri felt different, more vigorous. She decided to go home, and Cumulus said he would be in the same place if she needed her. That night while she waited for the powers to manifest or something. She went back to her favorite hobby: Making up Fearsome Critter stories. After coming up with crazy tales, Yatziri noticed strange things happening to her. Her brown hair turned light gray. She grew fangs, and her body bent, expanded, compressed, and became the sound of the eerie wind. When she stopped morphing, Yatziri realized that she had become a Fearsome Critter of her understanding of the subject matter.
She returned to Cumulus with the news. With his analysis, he theorized that the serum altered her at the quantum level and that her new form was based on what was on her mind at the time. Her brain commanded her body to now start behaving like a fearsome critter. Yatziri was so excited about this whole new chapter in her life. Cumulus stayed with her for a while to see her powers develop. She continued her life as a newly empowered Park Ranger until the call of heroics got to her. Yatziri took on simple thugs and crooks. She became well known for skulking her target and her bizarre antics and powers. All was fine for a while until more people with abilities appeared in her town. Eventually, she learned that someone by the name of The Bigger Boss had been orchestrating all this and fought her way through his super goons. The battle was fierce, but she won by biting BB’s throat and almost killed him with blood loss. In the distance, she saw Cumulus watching, recording, and analyzing.
Yatziri confronted him. She asked him if he had set this all up because she noticed that some of the super people she faced had the same conceptual powers she had. Cumulus told her that he was the one who gave them their power, but he had nothing to do with Bigger Boss. He did want to see each of these abilities in action against each other. This was all a coincidence, and it was not his fault that many of the folks turned evil. In the end, Cumulus had all the data he needed to help make the final products for his customers. She was angry at him, but not entirely due to not being evil, but a neutral scientist. Yatziri tried to apprehend him but ended up knocked 10 yards away instead. After regaining consciousness again, she found a note from Cumulus. He stated that he apologized for letting his experiment out of hand and that he must return to a place called Freeman. She spent the next few days looking for him. Yatziri was plagued with many emotions like confusion, anger, sadness, loneliness, and passion for finding him again, but now she’ll stick with fighting crime.
