The International Union of Heroes (IUH) is a global organization created by the governments around the world to manage the recurring and rising occupation and concept (respectively) in the world: heroes and superpowers.

Information[]

  • Official Name: International Union of Heroes (IUH).
  • Headquarters: City of Heroes, H-Island, Atlantic Ocean.
  • Leader/CEO: Callisto.
  • Second-in-Command: Trevor Jacobs.
  • Affiliations:
    • World Security League (WSL): Their first and successful superhero-related project, which was originally called Project League. The WSL members are direct subordinates of the IUH (despite most of them not liking being commanded). However, the IUH gave them permission to be more "free", and not just "subordinates".
    • TGZ: They are the first heroes, and as such, are indirectly responsible for the creation of the organization. The TGZ doesn't like the concept of the IUH, but they accept some things of them, because otherwise, they'd be considered illegal vigilantes.
  • Foundation: Sometime between 2018-2022.
  • Founder: Callisto (under the UN).
  • Status: Active.
  • Employees: Several.

History[]

The International Union of Heroes (IUH) emerged as a global entity under the visionary leadership of Callisto. Its formation was necessitated by the growing proliferation of superheroes and superpowers worldwide. As these extraordinary individuals and abilities became more prominent, governments recognized the need for a unified organization to oversee and manage this emerging phenomenon.

Founded during the transitional period spanning 2018-2022, the IUH was established under the auspices of the United Nations. Its primary objective was to address the challenges posed by the sudden influx of superpowered individuals and the rise of heroic figures. The organization was entrusted with the delicate task of maintaining order and ensuring the responsible use of these newfound powers.

Headquartered in the City of Heroes on H-Island in the Atlantic Ocean, the IUH operates on a global scale. Callisto, the visionary founder, serves as its CEO, overseeing the organization's multifaceted operations. Trevor Jacobs assumes the role of second-in-command, providing invaluable support in managing the complex network of heroes and affiliates.

One of the key affiliations of the IUH is the World Security League (WSL), an initiative initially known as Project League. The WSL comprises superheroes who, while technically subordinate to the IUH, are granted a measure of independence in their actions. This concession allows them to operate with a degree of freedom while collaborating with the IUH on global security matters.

The IUH also maintains a connection with the TGZ, the first generation of heroes. While the TGZ harbors reservations about the IUH's existence, they acknowledge shared goals and objectives, recognizing the importance of avoiding categorization as rogue vigilantes.

Today, the IUH stands as an active and integral component of the global landscape, employing a diverse workforce dedicated to managing the complexities of a world with heroes and superpowers. Its history is marked by a commitment to order, responsibility, and the harmonious coexistence of superpowered individuals with ordinary society.

Classifications[]

The IUH has developed a hierarchical system of classes to all heroes and superpowered individuals (so these can be used even to villains and other people). Using the greek alphabet, they made the system based from Alpha to Omega. This hierarchy isn't based on power-level, but on importance to the organization and the very world.

  • Alpha Class (α) - Alpha Heroes stand as the paragons of power, commanding abilities potent enough to challenge cosmic forces. They are the vanguards of the organization, wielding unparalleled might and serving as its linchpins during global crises. These individuals possess not only extraordinary strength but also the rare capacity to confront existential threats on a universal scale.
  • Beta Class (β) - Beta Heroes form a substantial and respected cadre, representing a diverse array of formidable abilities. They are the stalwart defenders and vital assets, working in harmony with Alpha Heroes to safeguard the world. While they may not match the Alpha's sheer power, their versatility and numbers make them invaluable contributors to the organization's mission.
  • Gamma Class (γ) - Gamma Heroes constitute a select few who wield formidable powers that, while mighty, often operate on a more localized scale. They excel in confronting substantial challenges within their immediate surroundings, making them formidable protectors at the regional level. Their individual strength makes them influential figures in their areas of operation.
  • Delta Class (δ), Epsilon Class (ε) and Zeta Class (ζ) - These three classifications encompass a wide spectrum of lesser-known heroes who excel at addressing local concerns, be it within a city, state, or country. Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta Heroes, while less globally significant, are the first line of defense against localized threats, often resolving issues before they escalate to higher levels. Their commitment to their communities is commendable.
  • Eta Class (η) and Theta Class (θ) - Eta and Theta Heroes, often comprising the less endowed or non-superpowered individuals, play a crucial role as vigilantes. They are individuals who may not possess extraordinary abilities but are affiliated with the IUH to uphold justice and maintain order. While considered among the weakest, their dedication to their roles as vigilant sentinels is vital to societal harmony.
  • Omega (Ω) - Omega-class encompasses individuals whose powers, characteristics, or importance have not been definitively categorized within the organization. These individuals often possess unique or uncharted abilities, and their roles and classifications within the IUH may evolve as their potential becomes clearer. Omega represents a category of unexplored potential and uncharted territory within the superpowered community.

The International Union of Heroes (IUH) stands as a global guardian against superpowered threats, equipped with an impressive array of technology, weaponry, and outreach programs. Here, we delve into the organization's remarkable assets:

  • Hero ID - The Hero ID is not just a credential but a symbol of responsibility and legitimacy. It grants heroes legal permission to operate within the organization's framework. This crucial document catalogues a hero's powers and abilities, providing vital guidance on their application. It also serves as a comprehensive insurance policy, ensuring that collateral damage incurred during heroics is duly covered.
  • Danger Sensors - Danger Sensors are optional but highly recommended tools for IUH heroes. These devices elevate situational awareness to a new level. They enable heroes to detect threats within their vicinity promptly. By analyzing an opponent's specifications, powers, and abilities, heroes gain invaluable tactical insights, enhancing their effectiveness in combat.
  • Cutting-Edge Weaponry and Paraphernalia - The IUH's technological arsenal is second to none, boasting advanced weaponry and equipment designed to counteract superpowered threats. These include:
    • Neuro Suppressors: Devices capable of temporarily dampening or negating superhuman powers, ensuring heroes can safely confront adversaries who misuse their abilities.

These satellites continuously monitor galactic regions, providing early detection and response capabilities against cosmic threats.

The IUH's scientists possess unrivaled knowledge in the realm of superhuman genetics and chemistry. Their research enables the organization to develop countermeasures, understand superhuman abilities, and even provide guidance for those seeking to understand or enhance their powers responsibly.

Their commitment to global security extends to humanitarian efforts. The organization exports its technology and supplies to countries in need, particularly in regions such as Africa, Central and South America, and Asia. By sharing their expertise, IUH aims to uplift nations, fortify global security, and foster cooperation among heroes worldwide.

Trivia[]

  • The IUH is based on organizations in fiction of the same premise, such as Hero Association (One Punch-Man), S.H.I.E.L.D. (Marvel Comics), etc.
  • Despite not being that liked by society and the heroes themselves (due to them viewing any "company" as corrupt somehow), most of the corporation are more concerned with genuine problems than money or the like.
    • However, this doesn't mean that they are little good bosses. Some executives are in constant corruption-related crimes, which make Callisto and Trevor incredibly stressed and pissed-off with those people (resulting on they firing them).
  • Some consider the classification system of the organization to be kind of unreliable, since some heroes are either way more powerful than what they are considered, or some are way weaker than their level.
    • But, like said, the system isn't based on power-level, but on importance to the world and the organization.
  • Even that a great amount of heroes (like the TGZ themselves) doesn't likes the concept of a "boss" taking care of them, they still affiliate themselves to them due to not wanting to be viewed as criminals or else.
  • In the world, the IUH completely forbids merchandise of any of their heroes (unless the said heroes allows it), and anyone who tries to sell it are rapidly sued.
  • All of their incomes are financed by several instituitions, governments and businessmen around the world.
    • They also pays salary to some of its heroes.
    • But, the paid salary isn't universal, since a hero is only paid with money if they really needs it (basically any poor superhuman that wants to act as heroes to be financially stable).
  • Despite the great interest taken by all of society in heroes, villains and superpowers, the organization is completely uninterested in sharing their technology and superpower-bestowing things to civilians.
    • Because of that, recently, "super-items" traffic are a constant problem in the current world.
  • Ironically, one of the most wanted people to the IUH isn't a villain of great power. Instead, it's Eskeleton, due to his great knowledge over the superhuman biology and the dangerous capability of creating villains purely for the sake of "wanting to".
  • The City of Heroes was built by several superhumans together, since they didn't wanted to make Techman do all the work yet again. And, is a place purely administered by the organization itself, so it isn't affiliated to any other country (as H-Island is kind of a country by it's own).
    • The structure and the buildings, for example, was built by Captain Molecular and Aether.
    • The energy of the island is provided by an energy reactor built by Hyper (using Hope's endless electric powers).
    • The climate is customizable by a system built by Steel Master, together with Siberian General's thermal control.
    • Techman provided a technology that generates any kind of needed supply, so the COH doesn't need to import from other countries.
    • The water is filtered from the ocean by a spell made by the Southern Sorceress, so they don't need to spend billions in construction.
    • And many more.
  • IUH conducts annual open auditions for aspiring heroes, where individuals with latent superpowers have the opportunity to prove their worth. This event is often broadcast worldwide, and winners receive training and mentorship from established heroes.
  • The organization hosts a glamorous annual gala to recognize and honor outstanding heroes and their contributions.
    • The event features red carpet entrances, dazzling performances, and emotional speeches, making it a highlight of the hero community.
  • The organization operates an elite training academy for young heroes. It's renowned for its rigorous curriculum, where promising superhumans receive specialized education, combat training, and moral guidance.
  • Deep within the World Pallace lies the IUH Archives, an extensive repository of knowledge about every superhuman ever cataloged by the organization.
    • It includes detailed records, powers assessments, and even personal diaries, making it an invaluable resource for researchers.
  • The IUH employs advanced AI systems to simulate dangerous scenarios for hero training. These simulations adapt to a hero's abilities, ensuring they are always challenged and prepared for any situation.
  • The organization has embarked on a space exploration program, seeking to expand humanity's understanding of the cosmos.
  • IUH sponsors groundbreaking research into superhuman biology, genetics, and medical treatments. Their advancements have led to breakthroughs in treating both superhuman-related and human injuries and illnesses.
