Great balance there ! Usually protagonists don't remember a thing and become someone else entirely, or get it all back down the line and are basically reset to who they once where. Your approach of it is far more interesting.

"Addiction for betterness", another line that went bullseye on me. As fascinating a concept as it is inspiring, and suiting John just perfectly.
